Botzu's Quick Evaluation

+ Talent: gains a stackable shield every 9 seconds that blocks an instance of damage and heals a percentage of Max HP
+ Mudrock is a very powerful Enmity Defender that is both incredibly tanky and deals great damage
+ Due to her completely blocking an enemy attack every 9 seconds she can block some very powerful but slow attacking enemies forever
+ S2: Great AoE damage that Stuns and also self heals. More effective against multiple enemies as it charges on getting hit.
+ S3: Great crowd control with an AoE slow duration followed by a stun. During the slowing effect she is invulnerable which provides a window to build up shields if she is taking too much damage. After the stun, ATK and DEF greatly increases and she gains the ability to attack multiple enemies equal to her block count
+ Great ability cooldowns
- Extremely high deployment cost
- While she can safely deal with large groups of enemies and slow attacking tough enemies, she doesn't deal well with the more powerful faster attacking enemies. Some of the more powerful arts damage enemies can quickly overwhelm her.

Operator Overview

“From Kazdel to Leithanien, so much discrimination is etched onto those who suffer, and when they have to take up arms, they find that they actually have nothing. What did you think of me, Doctor? Trust? Trust ...... Will it keep me alive?”

If you haven’t clicked on Mudrock’s E2 art to see the face under the Hazmat suit, you might want to go take a look. Don’t worry, we’ll wait.

So, Mudrock! She’s fought against Rhodes Island in the past, specifically during the “Twilight of Wolumonde” event. However, sometime after that, Mudrock and her soldiers were taken captive by a Leithanien noble and subjected to horrific Arts experimentation. To save her followers (at least, those that were still alive), Mudrock cut a deal with Rhodes Island, joining their ranks as the first 6* Enmity Defender. She brings many of the same strengths as an ally that she had as an enemy: DPS, damage blocking, and invulnerability, with self-sustain and crowd-control thrown in to sweeten the deal.

Mudrock is an Enmity Defender, like rare Recruitment-only Operator Vulcan, which means that she cannot be directly healed by other Operators. Because she can’t be directly healed, it’s up to Mudrock to heal herself, which she does with her Talent: Ward of the Fertile Soil. Every few seconds, Ward of the Fertile Soil grants Mudrock a shield that will block the next instance of damage she would take and recover some of her HP when it is consumed. Mudrock can hold multiple shield charges at a time, which gives her a lot of protection when facing enemies that have high ATK but slow ASPD.

If you need some more healing, equip Mudrock’s S2, Crag Splitter. This auto-trigger Skill charges when Mudrock gets hit, and when it activates, it recovers Mudrock’s HP while simultaneously damaging all ground enemies around her with a chance to Stun them. There’s a much more reliable Stun on her S3, however: the legendary Bloodline of Desecrated Earth. This complicated Skill has several effects:

  1. When activated, Mudrock stops attacking and becomes invulnerable to all attacks for several seconds. During this time, she emits an aura that Slows all nearby enemies.
  2. When the invulnerability ends, Mudrock slams her hammer on the ground, Stunning all nearby ground enemies for several seconds.
  3. For the remaining skill duration, Mudrock has buffed ATK and DEF, a faster attack interval, and the ability to attack a number of enemies equal to her Block count, like an AoE Guard.

Between her shields, her on-demand invincibility, and her capacity for AoE damage, Mudrock seems unstoppable on paper, but it can be harder to leverage her power than you might expect. Even with S2, Mudrock’s self-sustain is relatively infrequent (remember, S2 has the [Getting Hit] SP type). She relies on negating damage with her passive and S3 to survive against strong opponents, and both of these methods require careful timing to be successful. Her HP is very high, but her DEF is surprisingly low, more on par with a Healing Defender than a Normal Defender. And Mudrock has a very high DP cost—one of the highest in Arknights—so if you mess up and she dies, you’ll be paying through the nose to redeploy her.

There are ways to help her, however. Enmity Defenders can’t be directly healed, but they can be healed by passive regeneration, such as the Talents of Perfumer or Angelina. Even a little bit of regeneration goes a long way to keeping Mudrock in the fight, and the longer Mudrock is in the fight, the more hopeless the enemy’s battle becomes. If you can properly use her shields, her Stuns, and her crushing hammer blows, you’ll be as invincible as Mudrock herself!

Profile

Sarkaz mercenary Mudrock, formerly a part of the Reunion Movement, led her team far from Ursus after disagreements with the organization. She had no involvement with Reunion whatsoever during the incidents in Chernobog and Lungmen. Searching for a foothold to establish, Mudrock took her team towards Leithania. After taking in a great number of Leithanien Infected there, Mudrock became a highly esteemed leader, and her team came to be known as the "Mudrock Squad." Despite Mudrock's multiple attempts to avoid conflict with other powers, her side was nevertheless drawn into constant disputes. So as to prevent any further meaningless sacrifice, Mudrock chose to head for Kazdel. She came into contact with elite operator Logos within Kazdel's borders, and left with the latter for Rhodes Island.

Clinical Analysis

Increase Trust to 25.
Imaging tests have shown the outlines of her internal organs to be indistinct due to abnormal shadows. Originium granules have been detected in her circulatory system, confirming her to be infected with Oripathy.

[Cell-Originium Assimilation] 12%
Operator Mudrock bears clearly visible Originium crystals at multiple locations over her body.

[Blood Originium-Crystal Density] 0.31u/L
As a former Sarkaz mercenary, we cannot be optimistic about Mudrock's infection. She requires regular monitoring and examination.

In order to keep her massive suit of armor upright, Mudrock uses Originium Arts between the cushioning materials as padding. One could ask whether her tremendous form actually intimidates the enemy, but in fact, it has already led many to misjudge her build and strength. This Arts transformation of hers is truly "armed to the teeth," her visor making her voice seem heavy yet diminished. Until the moment she took off her suit, none of our HR operators could precisely determine her gender. Tangentially, aside from her longtime Sarkaz friends, the astonishment on every Mudrock Squad member's face at the examination site said it all— Not even they knew their leader's true form.
"But I guess... that explains the mysterious Sarkaz woman showing up from time to time in our team. I always thought I was dreaming." —A Leithanien Caster from the Mudrock Squad

Increase Trust to 100.
Mudrock's Originium Arts manipulate stone and soil. Beyond that, she has a natural gift, having grasped several classic and characteristically Leithanien Arts forms as well as an ancient, bloodline-tied Sarkaz witchcraft. This witchcraft lets her consciousness forcibly "intervene" in her constructs' bodies, allowing what was the unthinking stone and soil to become her own four limbs extended. For example, it's like the difference between holding a sword in her hands, and her hands themselves becoming a sword. Put another way, from the angle of combat efficiency, not much difference at all. These special Originium Arts prove Mudrock's Sarkaz blood still flows pure, but aren't effective for strengthening her constructs' fighting capabilities. However, this is only in terms of the Arts Mudrock presently displays. Considering her future growth, as well as innate talent shown in her self-taught use of Leithanien Arts systems, perhaps these ancient bloodborne methods may become a table-turning ace in the hole of hers.
Meriting additional attention is that Mudrock will occasionally refer to her Originium Arts constructs as "friends," both Colossus and small as soil clumps alike. We can be sure that Mudrock does not bestow this title purely from her own individuality or personal interest. Perhaps Mudrock's special Originium Arts make her regard her arisen constructs with emotion, similar to a handy tool one has used for decades. Or, perhaps, her prolonged use of witchcraft has given her some curious affinity with the stone and soil. We request to all Operators that should you find Mudrock alone in her room giving a petite clay figure a sweet smile you've never seen before, please, do not be surprised. In the end, her relationship with the soil is likely far greater than her relationship with most people in its intimacy.

Increase Trust to 150.
The Infected within Mudrock's group have not had it easy. Mudrock was only "compelled" to contact Rhodes Island so that they could be given normal care. Mudrock has made it abundantly clear that she refuses to follow the inclinations of other powers. After undergoing initial talks with Rhodes Island, however, Mudrock has been willing to work for us in exchange for her group being able to receive medical treatment. Considering Rhodes Island's precedent of strained contact with "Sarkaz mercenaries," The HR Department planned hash out the agreement with her in greater detail, but so as to not hold up their treatment, Mudrock firmly decided to give up her own position and join Rhodes Island as a cooperative force.
Even had she not done so, we still would have aided her people, though her persistent attitude is truly rare to see in a "Sarkaz mercenary." This has given us a glimpse as to why Mudrock was so welcomed by the Infected of Leithania.
By the way, while Mudrock was weighing whether or not to become a Rhodes Island operator, she happened to run across Grani, who was "vacationing" at Rhodes. Grani shared with Mudrock a short story about bounty hunters, treasure and misunderstandings, after which Mudrock appeared gave a rare display of visible happiness. Operators Folinic and Suzuran further helped persuade her to stay with Rhodes Island in the end.

Archive File 4

Increase Trust to 200.
The Mudrock Squad are far from fortunate for what they went through in Leithania. As a result of her rebelling against Reunion's advocacy of violence, Mudrock had absolutely no involvement with Reunion in the reign of terror that befell Ursus. On the contrary, she led her like-minded Sarkaz for Leithania long before, hoping that in a nation of highly developed Originium Arts, prosperous yet rotten to the core, they could find some place in which to hide away. Mudrock knew well that Leithania's cities and Spires wouldn't readily admit bloodstained Sarkaz mercenaries, so they elected to wander between remote cities, attracting more and more of Leithania's Infected during this time. Her benevolence, rare amongst mercenaries, earned her quite the following. Before she realized it, the reputation of the Mudrock Squad had spread across the Infected though she often trails off, blushing, when the topic comes up. It seems that she doesn’t like to talk about her “glorious” moment of popularity.
Yet all good things come to an end. The vengeful lust of the "Reunion Movement" was never contained within reason's reach. While Leithania as a whole had a milder treatment of the Infected, these conflicts naturally spread through other areas due to ulterior motives. After enduring the calamity led by a string of out-of-control riots, Mudrock despondently decided to return to Kazdel, hoping to establish a shelter for her people there.
However, this plan was also cut short, again by outside forces she couldn't defy. When Elite Operator Logos came across the Mudrock Squad in Kazdel, there were hardly any Sarkaz warriors left by her side, and the minds, spirits, and bodies of the Leithanien Infected who now outnumbered the original members were on the verge of collapse. As for what even happened to the Mudrock Squad between leaving Leithania and arriving at Rhodes Island, or why Mudrock decided differently at the last minute, we're not at all clear. However, without a doubt, they suffered disastrous losses from some Leithanian power pursued them out of Leithania. After confirming the opposition was clearly intent on "slaughtering every last Infected," Logos opted to come to their aid.

Mudrock had once asked Operator Folinic, "What happened to Wolumonde?" .

According to the operation's archives, Wolumonde was a mobile town just north of Leithanien that had been involved in a Catastrophe that nearly destroyed it. The Rhodes Island Operator Atro was killed in this incident, and the team of agents that went to investigate the incident had also clashed with the Mudrock Squad. When asked "if Mudrock had committed any atrocities", Folinic hesitated for a moment, and then denied it.

As for the so-called "aftermath" regarding Mudrock, it refers to what happened after Mudrock dueled the Rhodes Island Operators (this word is more appropriate for situation, as it can be judged as Mudrock's deliberate intention to fight) and evacuated from Wolumonde. Sudden fires and riots gave the officers reason to petition the nobles to reinforce the gendarmes, and with the help of the gendarmes, the stricken town managed to establish a passage across the Great Rift Valley, with messengers and supply parties then arriving at Wolumonde. In conclusion, Wolumonde was badly wounded and its problems did not stop at the direct losses caused by riots and disagreements, "nearly one fifth of Wolumonde's population had betrayed Leithanien", it is a shadow buried deep in the hearts of the locals and a wake-up call to some of the local nobles whose consciences still existed---The problems they face are quite complex.

According to a letter from a courier who followed up on the investigation, the gendarmerie were able to confirm that Biederman, the culprit of the Wolumonde incident, had perished in the riot, and that the local Schultz had been taken into custody with a severe case of Oripathy and died an unknown death. The nobles then took back the autonomy of Wolumonde and decided to incorporate the intact areas of Wolumonde into the surrounding towns in the following spring.

According to the "experience" described by Mudrock, this incident in Wolumonde was just the tip of the iceberg of what the Mudrock Squad and other infected people had seen in Leithanien. One could imagine why the state of the Leithanien infected in the Mudrock Squad was so bad. I have to admit, staying in the giant cage of the Infected and giving up your freedom may be the only way to survive in Leithanien.

[Confidential Record]

On the first night of a local nobleman's visit to Wolumonde, an assassination attempt was made. The suspect attempted a stabbing, fled to the vicinity of the Winterwisp Mountains, then bit his tongue and killed himself. He was identified as the only son of the local Schultz, Thorwald, who was thought to have been killed in the fire. The gendarme found a letter on his person: "I've changed my mind, I'll die for you, but you have to do something for me. You know him, you're going to finish him off." Because of this letter and the Castrophe Messenger token that the suspect was carrying, it is possible to identify the suspect as one of Biederman's accomplices. The nobleman did not make things difficult for Severin Hawthorne, who was already gravely ill, but was clearly upset about the matter and left Wolumonde. Considering that only a few Operators were involved in this incident, this information is only available to several officers and the Doctor.

Voice Lines

Appointed as Assistant Hm? Ah, this soil... it can murmur. It can dance. It is my friend.
Talk 1 Miss Closure told me I shouldn't walk about Rhodes Island "fully equipped"... but I'm not used to... revealing... myself. Sorry...
Talk 2 Thank-you letters? Ah, from the Sarkaz workers yesterday? My equipment and type of Arts are a good match for physical work. Besides, their materials and fuel weren't featherweight. And they relied on the power of flesh and blood to ensure Rhodes Island sails smooth... it's incredible.
Talk 3 That elite operator... I thought I'd seen enough bizarre Originium Arts in Leithania to write any wild fantasy. But the moment he pushed apart the fog with a wave of his hand, I understood, as a Sarkaz, he was young yet incredibly ancient.
Talk after Promotion 1 I often think of the soldiers and companions that have left us. Sometimes, I have a sort of delusion that even now, I'm still fleeing... Doctor, have you been to Kazdel before? That was where my journey started, and once, where I'd thought it would end.
Talk after Promotion 2 Dr. Kal'tsit, huh... She startled me, but she's reassuring in spades... One thing, though. Rhodes Island seems to get along well with another mercenary group, too. Could you tell me about them, Doctor? It's best I don't know? I see... then I think I can more or less guess who.
Talk after Trust Increase 1 I became a Rhodes Island Operator so they could be treated properly, live on properly, and only then would those warriors... have died with meaning. But... since coming to Rhodes Island, I've seen clearly what I, myself, am truly fighting for. That was a first for me.
Talk after Trust Increase 2 Me, alone, talking to a clay doll...? You're... you're telling you saw me? That was just a kind of ceremony... huh? So everyone already knew? Really? Then I'll be more careful next time, do it late when nobody's up... um, I shouldn't?
Talk after Trust Increase 3 From Kazdel to Leithania, so many marks have been carved onto the suffering. The moment they had no choice but to fight, I realized I had nothing at all. How do you see me, Doctor? You trust me? Will that trust... allow me to live on?
Idle ...The person napping there is the Doctor. Remember that well. Our road together is sure to be long and far.
Onboard Sarkaz mercenary, Mudrock... You're the Doctor, then. Rhodes Island has saved me many times, and now, I'd like you to let me return the favor.
Watching Battle Record I've had a taste of how Rhodes Island fights before, but, well, this still makes a great reference...
Promotion 1 I used to be known as Reunion, and then under the Mudrock Squad, and now... I've been promoted by my former enemy. Is this what they meant by "life is a rollercoaster?"
Promotion 2 Hm? This seems fresh? I never take my helmet off in battle, after all... There's a lot of reasons why, but things have changed now. S... staying like this? If I have to...
Added to Squad I'm simply a Rhodes Island Operator, now. I'll obey your command.
Appointed as Squad Leader The captain... I don't like leading, but... I'm used to it.
Depart It’s time to fight.
Begin Operation The enemy...
Selecting Operator 1 The soil answers my will.
Selecting Operator 2 Speak. The rocks are listening.
Deployment 1 Battlefield never changes.
Deployment 2 I'll fight for myself.
In Battle 1 The land is as my friend.
In Battle 2 Be as the mountains.
In Battle 3 Heed my call.
In Battle 4 Arise, great boulder.
4-star Result Running is useless... resist it, even if you are not willing to resist. This is the only way I've come to know to face suffering.
3-star Result My friends are whispering their celebration. They cheer our victory, Doctor.
Sub 3-star Result Chase them... I'll watch over the battlefield with my friends' eyes.
Operation Failure It's not the first I've fled with my back to the enemy. If even more can live on this way... I'll cover your backs.
Assigned to Facility The ceiling's... a little lower than I imagined.
Tap ...Mm? Did you touch me just now?
Trust Tap Doctor? Could you stay with me for a bit? I'd like... to ask you a little about Kazdel. Ah, and my friends have missed you, too.
Title Arknights.
Greeting Hello, Doctor.
