Equipment
Overview
Taking to the frontline as only an SG can, KSG is completely suited for use as a solo tank due to both her high Armor stat and powerful tile buffs.
KSG does very well at what a Shotgun is supposed to do -- she takes a ton of punishment due to her Armor stat, which is the highest in the game. Although her HP is a bit lacking, her overall tankiness is more than enough to make up for the deficit.
In addition, KSG provides a 20% Damage buff to MGs with her tiles, which grants her incredible utility and it is among the best SGs can currently offer. One negative aspect about KSG’s tiles is that she only covers two spots, but this is a minor downside. All in all, KSG is currently one of the best SGs in the game, and should be a great addition to any SG+MG Echelon.

Strengths
High Armor
As KSG has the highest Armor out of all SGs, she’s well suited for her role of a solo tank.
Great Tile Buff
KSG provides a flat 20% Damage buff to MGs, which is currently one of the best buffs provided by an SG.
Weaknesses
Relatively low HP
With an HP of 253 per Dummy Link at level 100, KSG’s HP is lower than the average SG.
Lacking Tile Formation
Although KSG’s tile buff is powerful, she does not buff the MG directly behind her, making her tile placement less useful than it could be.
Full Analysis
Providing high spec tanking along with a great tile buff, KSG represents what most SGs only can wish that they were.
KSG’s merit comes from a combination of her stats and tiles. Featuring an Armor stat of 24, KSG is above her class average in arguably the most important way that matters. Although her HP is lacking compared to her SG brethren, against enemies with higher Damage, KSG’s Armor does offer better scalability. In addition to her great tanking capability, KSG also gives MGs a 20% Damage buff, one of the best given by an SG. As she only is able to buff two MGs instead of three her tiles do leave a bit to be desired, but ultimately this is a very minor grievance.
One thing to be noted about KSG is that she is able to be used by herself as a tank, and does not require another SG to be used in conjunction with her. Some SGs require being used in tandem with another SG due to lacking good tanking stats or buff tile orientations, but KSG has neither of these problems. This frees up another spot in the Echelon for an HG or another MG, having a net positive effect on damage output.
Finally, another notable aspect to using KSG is her Skill. Although her Skill is phenomenal -- buffing KSG’s Armor and Evasion by 60% for 6 seconds -- most of the time, this Skill won’t get a chance to be used. This is due to the fact that her Skill’s Initial Cooldown is 10 seconds, while an MG’s volley will run out in 5-6 seconds, and ideally the enemies should be cleared within the first volley. In a situation where her Skill activates, however, KSG becomes even better, often taking only 1 damage per hit from nearly all foes. It’s also important to consider that this is an issue generally inherent within the SG class and is not specific to KSG herself.
To conclude, KSG is one of the best choices of Shotgun in a standard SG+MG Echelon due to her excellent tile buffs, tile orientation, and defensive capabilities. Due to these reasons, she should be used if and when she is obtained, and is a worthy reason to partake in at least a few Heavy Productions.

Team Options
MGs
As with most shotguns, KSG isn’t particular when it comes to which MGs she can be used with. Some examples are M2HB, PK, and MG5.
MGs with Armor Buffs
Although not strictly necessary as KSG has a high Armor stat to begin with, she benefits more from Armor buff tiles compared to other SGs as they will aid her in completely negating damage. Some examples are MG5, and M1918.
HGs with Accuracy/Damage buffs
Although KSG herself does not need any buffs that an HG provides, the MGs she should be used with appreciate Damage and Accuracy buffs the most. Some examples are Mk23, Colt Revolver, and Grizzly.

The typical SG+MG Echelon with a solo tank features 3MG, 1SG, and a HG. The HG is used to further buff the MGs (and sometimes the SG) as well as boost the Echelon’s damage output.

Another option, however, is to use a HG instead of a third MG in order to save resources, as using MGs are costly, and most of the time, utilizing only two will suffice. This 2MG 2HG 1SG formation works especially well with KSG, as the middle MG will not receive KSG’s buff either way.

History/Trivia
The KSG is an American bullpup and pump-action shotgun designed by George Kellgren and manufactured by Kel-Tec. It entered production in 2011 and since then its production has not stopped. The KSG features a 12-gauge cartridge and employs a dual-tube system that allows it to carry twice as much ammunition; each tube being able to hold a total of seven 12-gauge shotshells.
