Character Analysis
Maribel Hearn (Interpreting an Evil Spirit) was released on November 10th 2023 on Genic Prayer “Sealed Evil Spirit”.
The Genic Genesis has begun, and has introduced two separate paths. One of those being the path that brings together a human from the outside world and an Evil Spirit from a legacy era. This human is known as Maribel Hearn (commonly nicknamed Merry) who is close friends with fellow Secret Sealing Club member, Renko Usami and has an aura of mysteriousness about her, with being able to see boundaries and can even visit Gensokyo in her dreams! On the flip side, the Evil Spirit known as Mima wields tremendous power and for a long time, has cemented herself as a formidable sorcerer. However, that hasn’t stopped her from creating a unique bond with this human being. But why and how? The plot thickens…
LM1 Maribel Hearn is a Destroy-Class Friend who together with the Evil Spirit known as Mima, seals the deal by buffing the team’s CRIT ATK, Yin ATK, Agility, Accuracy and CRIT Accuracy while pulling off great break potential through their Moon and Fire elements and Burn + Blind anomalies. To top it all off, this Genic unit’s Resonance Skill grants +4% CRIT Damage and CRIT Chance x the number of Friends at the front guard.
As a Attacker
- Massive Yin ATK Stat at 1977.
- Since all of LM1 Maribel and Mima’s bullet lines are either Moon or Fire, if any of those are effective against a specific enemy, its damage to effective elements increases by 40%.
- Courtesy of the unique Resonance Skill 3, LM1 Maribel and Mima are able to grant the team 4% more CRIT Damage and CRIT Chance x the number of Friends at the front guard. Genic Units count as 2 Friends which makes this a minimum of a 10% increase.
- Has some selfish Spirit Power buffs. Includes Skill 2 (2.00), Spell Card 1 Post-ATK (1.75) and Last Word Post-ATK (2.75).
- Provides CRIT ATK buffs for the team through Boosting and Skill 3, the latter lasting 5 Turns. CRIT ATK buffs can also be located on some bullet lines across her Spread Shot.
- Gains a CRIT ATK II buff via Last Word Pre-ATK.
- Provides the team with Yin ATK by Grazing and by Spell Card 2 Pre-ATK. Also gains more Yin ATK of her own via Spell Card 1 Bullet Line.
- Grants the team an Accuracy buff via Spell Card 2 Pre-ATK. Also buffs her own Accuracy via Last Word Pre-ATK.
- CRIT Accuracy buffs are given to the team by using Spell Card 2 and Last Word Pre-ATKs.
- Provides the team Agility buffs thanks to Spell Card 2’s Pre-ATK and bullet lines, as well as an additional bullet line on their Last Word. This also helps with Slice Scaling, which Last Word’s Line 1 has 198% Scaling conversion.
- Debuffs the Evasion of all enemies via Skill 1.
- Debuffs the CRIT Evasion of all enemies via Skill 1.
- Focus Shot has 2 lines that debuff the CRIT DEF of all enemies, while one of those lines also debuff the Yin DEF of all of them.
- LM1 Maribel and Mima’s Killer Range includes Human, Hakurei Shrine, Outside World, Hell, Makai, God, Lost Presence, Shrine Maiden, Magician and Maid.
- LM1 Maribel and Mima also have a lot of Precise and Explosive bullet lines, making them have a higher chance to CRIT if their enemy has buffed their Agility and Defense respectively.
- Due to several factors above, such as LM1 Maribel and Mima’s Resonance Skill, CRIT Accuracy buffs/CRIT Evasion debuffs, Elastic and Explosive bullets, and the Destroy Class, with enough CRIT Accuracy, it might not even require Killers to guarantee Critical Hits on enemies, especially on bullet lines that require boosts. The Resonance Skill can also make it even easier for other Friends, mainly Destroy-Class Friends and LR1 Renko and Shinki.
As a Utility / Barrier Breaker
- LM1 Maribel and Mima’s bullet lines are simply either Moon or Fire in terms of elements, with the Spread Shot, Spell Card 2 and Last Word being completely all Moon, whereas her Focus Shot and Spell Card 1 have both Fire and Moon.
- LM1 Maribel and Mima benefit from self-inflicted Burn and Blind anomalies. For every layer of either infliction, a stage of Yin ATK, Yang ATK, CRIT ATK and CRIT Accuracy are all gained. This is demonstrated by self-inflicting Blind and Burn anomalies via Skill 1, and bullet lines for Focus Shot, Spell Card 1 and Spell Card 2.
- Can inflict Blind anomalies on all enemies via Skill 2 (All) and Last Word Pre-ATK (All). On top of that, Burn anomalies are also inflicted via Spell Card 1 Pre-ATK (All) and Spread Shot and Spell Card 2 bullet lines (Both Solo). All-Targeting Spell Card 1 breaks both Blind and Burn (Both 2P) and All-Targeting Last Word breaks Blind, Burn and Poison (All 3P).
- Spell Card 1 Post-ATK is capable of removing LM1 Maribel and Mima’s 3 Binds/Stat Debuffs.
- All-Targeting Focus Shot has the capability to Stun all enemies at 3P thanks to the Impact effect.
- Last Word bullet line 4 has the Adhesive effect, causing Delay on all enemies.
Story Card Recommendations
(Card recommendations last updated on November 17, 2023)
Spell Card
Since there may be a bit of uncertainty when it comes to Accuracy in case the Evasion debuff on Skill 1 isn’t enough, it won’t hurt to add a bit of Accuracy support there. There are also other options such as Spirit Power (selfish or for the team), Agility, team Yin ATK and of course, all-out power, this time being Light Bullets for both Spell Cards and for elements, primarily Moon for Spell Card 2 and maybe Fire for Spell Card 1.

Kaguya's Moonlit Festival!
Reisen's Moonlit Festival!
Patron Saint of Learning
Puppeteer and Necromancer
Makai God's Descent
The Heat of My Fingertips
Lunatic Red Eyes
LM1 Maribel and Mima’s Last Word has 6 lines that are all Light and Moon, making her best choice for her Last Word easily their signature card, Evil Spirit Possession, thanks to its potential to collectively boost their Last Word power by a total of 100% due to the Moon + Light boost, on top of this includes the special effect for Destroy-Class Friends to slightly reduce the CRIT DEF of all enemies.
2 Equally strong runners up would be both Kaguya’s Moonlit Festival! and Reisen’s Moonlit Festival! Since they both have 2 effects that take the collective Moon + Light boost total to 95%. Surprisingly, the classic Christmas Event’s 5 Star Story Card that is Patron Saint of Learning is not a bad choice at all, due to its lesser, but still noteworthy total of 50% damage increase in again, Moon + Light! Other regular options for a flatout 50% boost in either Moon or Light would be Puppeteer and Necromancer, Makai God’s Descent, Lunatic Red Eyes and The Heat of my Fingertips.
Character Skill Level Up Recommendations
To get your spirits up when it comes to Skills, let’s start with the one in the middle, Evil Spirit Revival, simply for its Spirit Power boost, providing that instant 3P boost off the jump. Next up will be Worldwide Vengeance, just to ensure LM1 Maribel and Mima’s attacks will connect with that Evasion debuff. That CRIT Evasion debuff and selfish Blind anomaly infliction will help too. And last, but by absolutely no means least is Yin-Yang Release, which maybe one could argue it should be second as from Levels 1 to 10, it does effectively double the CRIT Chance and CRIT Damage once maxed out, going from 2% to 4% x every friend on the front guard.
Character Strengths
Critical and Destructive Resonance
Being a Destroy Class Genic unit means that LM1 Maribel and Mima can do wonders not only for themselves but also for others! Having a Resonance Skill that boost the party’s CRIT Damage and CRIT Chance by 4% for every Friend at the front guard (minimum 8%), combined with CRIT Accuracy buffs, Elastic and Explosive Bullets, Killers won’t even be required to ensure CRIT damage, and this extends to many other Destroy-Class Friends as well as a certain other Genic counterpart! The Killer range that LM1 Maribel and Mima have isn’t particularly impressive, so this is rather huge for them!
Merry and Mima, the Powerful Magicians
Of course, Merry and Mima are able to deal great damage while also helping with providing guaranteed CRITs the way they can! Using Burn and Blind anomalies to increase offensive stats, mainly Yin ATK and CRIT ATK, plus having the Spirit Power to dish out the boosted damage, and a lot of the buffs provided are also mostly shared with the rest of the team. Appearing on Skills, Spell Cards and even through the (unknown) Ability! Includes CRIT ATK, CRIT Accuracy, Yin ATK, Agility and Accuracy.
Barrier Broken by an Unbreakable Vengeance
In terms of elements, being purely focused on just 2 elements completely across the board is very handy and consistent, as LM1 Maribel and Mima can fully hone in on just Moon and Fire. With their Spread Shot, Spell Card 2 and Last Word completely full of Moon, with Fire accompanying it on their Focus Shot and Spell Card 1, it will be a difficult time for those especially weak to Moon. In addition, anomaly breaking is pretty good too, as Spell Card 1 can break both Burn and Blind anomalies, inflicted on all enemies via the same Spell Card as well as Skill 2. It won’t be too difficult to pull off some quick Full-Breaks here.
Complete, Stunning and Unbound Darkness
LM1 Maribel and Mima have some tricks up their sleeves as well, however. On top of the damage, CRIT Support and breaking, this new Genic unit is now one of the few who has a guaranteed method of Stunning all enemies via an Impact Bullet Line. Thanks to her Focus Shot, it is possible to use this to your advantage. Do note however that using Skill 2 on the same turn will result in LM1 Maribel and Mima moving after all enemies, so keep that in mind! As for an additional other trick, should they be in a literal bind or two, or even three, Spell Card 1’s Post-ATK allows 3 Binds/Stat debuffs to be completely dispelled, providing a handy bit of utility.
Character Weaknesses
Resonance Boundary
As critically acclaimed as Skill 3 is for what it brings to the table and to other allies via CRIT Damage and CRIT Chance boosting, 8 Turns isn’t exactly the most ideal cooldown duration out there. In most scenarios, this is going to be a one-time Skill per battle, so it is important to make sure you pick the perfect opportunity to use it, especially given that these effects only last 2 turns.
