Character Analysis
Alice Margatroid (Scarlet) was released on April 14th 2023 in "Festival Prayer: Alice in Scarletland." For more up-to-date analysis, be sure to visit the Official Discord Server.
Welcome to Wonderland…or Scarletland, which seems to be where this Grimoire-wielding magician from the Forest of Dolls suddenly appeared from! She isn’t very fond of the troublesome Scarlet Mist, so in order to get to the bottom of this predicament, the curtains have opened and coquelicots are falling. She isn’t alone though, as she is supported by her faithful dolls and her Makai-born powers.
Alice Margatroid (A6) is a Debuff-Class Friend who weakens her enemies with defensive debuffs, plays with Burn and Paralyze anomalies and showers her foes with a rainbow of elements.
As a Debuffer
- Debuffs the Yang DEF of enemies via Skill 2 and Last Word.
- Debuffs the Yin DEF of enemies via Second Spell Card and Last Word,
- Skill 2 and a Last Word bullet Line can also reduce CRIT Evasion.
- CRIT DEF debuffs are in her bullet lines across her Spread Shot, First Spell Card and Last Word
As a Utility / Support
- Able to inflict Burn anomalies on her enemies with Skill 2, First Spell Card and Spread Shot bullet lines. These can be broken via Solo First Spell Card and Last Word at 2P.
- Breaks Paralyze anomalies via Last Word at 2P.
- Grants herself 2 Barriers via Skill 3, maintaining Paralyze anomaly inflictions.
- Provides her allies Yang DEF via Skill 1.
As a Tank
- Self-Inflicted Paralyze anomalies are performed through both Spell Card Pre-ATKs, increasing Yin DEF, Yang DEF, CRIT DEF and CRIT Evasion.
- Converts Burn anomalies inflicted on her into restoring 5% of her HP.
- Reduces damage received from Scarlet Devil Mansion enemies by 40%.
- Reduces damage received from Star Elemental bullets by 25%.
As an Attacker
- Able to increase her Spirit Power by 1.50 via Skill 3.
- Increases her Accuracy from Skill 1
- Increases her Yang ATK and CRIT ATK from her First Spell Card and Last Word Pre-ATKs respectively.
- Has a solid Killer range, carried by Youkai Killer.
- Increases her damage from bullets that enemies resist by 25%; having rainbow elements means this may come into play frequently.
Story Card Recommendations
(Card recommendations last updated on May 07, 2023)
Spell Card
Spirit Power is always welcome, and A6 Alice is certainly receptive to benefiting from more of it through The Witch of Scarlet Dreams and its 2.00 increase of it. If you’re looking for a mix of offense and team support, Nameless Adventurers is a great fit for her First Spell Card, boosting Normal bullets by 50% while also increasing the Yang ATK of her teammates by 2 Stages. As for her Second Spell Card, we have Sporadically Margaret which boosts Sharp Bullets by 50% (as well as a singular Wood Bullet by 40%).
Last Word
It may not be designed specifically for this version of Alice Margatroid, but Sporadically Margaret is the best fit here, boasting a 50% Sharp Bullet boost for A6 Alice to reap, as well as a single bullet line taking advantage of its 40% Wood increase. This is enough to edge out I’m Alright!, a fantastic alternative that boosts Sharp Bullets by the same amount, with The Heat of my Fingertips taking bronze thanks to it providing a 45% boost in Sharp bullets.
Character Skill Level Up Recommendations
The more Spirit Power, the merrier, so let’s start with Skill 3’s (Partial) Full Power, which also takes her own Barrier count up to 2 stages. Next up is Skill 1’s Still Growing, as being able to ensure attacks hit with those Accuracy buffs is never a bad thing. Teamwide Yang DEF doesn’t hurt either. Last, but certainly not least is our second Skill, Makai Fire. Yang DEF and CRIT Evasion debuffs as well as Burning up all enemies will definitely have some use.
Character Strengths
Debuffs and Anomalies
While A6 Alice may be focused on Yang DEF debuffs via Skill 2 and her Last Word, she provides Yin DEF debuffs through her Second Spell Card and Last Word Pre-ATKs. It may seem odd for a Yang unit like this puppeteer, but with some Yin-based allies, this could be of use. Yin allies will also appreciate the slight benefit from A6 Alice inflicting Burn anomalies on her foes, should she opt not to anomaly break.
Puppets and Power
Having a decent range of Killers, with Youkai being the main one here is always convenient, and with the CRIT DEF and CRIT Evasion debuffs in A6 Alice’s kit, she will capitalize on that well. She is also able to use Hard Scaling to her advantage, with it having more of an effect through methods such as her Paralyze anomaly inflicts on herself.
Character Weaknesses
Alice in Rainbowland
Having all kinds of elements in one’s attacks is very hard to work with, especially when the most rainbow-y set of elements we have seen to date resides in A6 Alice’s kit. With her rainbow scheme preventing an element appearing more than once in any of her attacks, her elemental break potential is very much hindered, even mitigations like slight anomaly breaking and resisted elements getting a 25% boost aren’t enough to cover this flaw up.
No Support, Needs Support
As a debuffer, it’s natural that A6 Alice will want to focus on that, but her only way to buff the team is Yang DEF UP, which is especially selfish. On top of that, her buffs she gives herself like Yang ATK, CRIT ATK and to some extent, Yang DEF are very lacking, so she needs some backup that can provide the above to really bring her damage up.
