The New Land of the Oni is a giant steel contraption with mechanisms spread throughout, all of which Kasen can activate using her metal club as a key. This system is fundamentally different from city-control systems that center on using modern electrical devices, but in many ways, it's more advanced. Despite its appearance, the New Land of the Oni is a highly sophisticated feat of construction.

Character Analysis
Kasen Ibaraki (Oni Gate Abou Yaksha) was released on February 1st 2024 on Prayer “White Tiger Oni Ultra Festival”. For more up-to-date analysis, be sure to visit the Official Discord Server.
In a world of iron and steam, there lie two members of the Big Four of the Mountain, or in this case, Nio-oni who work tirelessly to serve their own Shuten-Douji, better known to us as Suika Ibuki. One of these members, Kasen Ibaraki, or Ibaraki-Douji of this realm followed a very different path to the one we are familiar with, never having her arm severed, never taking the hermit route and also living a life in the Former Capital as opposed to Gensokyo. So can this Nio-oni with titles such as the Western Gate God and the Closed Mouth Oni drop the hammer on those responsible for the Lost Word incident?
W5 Kasen Ibaraki is a Speed-Class Friend who goes full steam ahead with team support via Yin ATK, CRIT ATK, Accuracy, Agility and Spirit Power as well as a powerful Killer range, Burn anomalies to inflict and break, and repeatedly gains Spirit Power with one of her Skills.
As an Attacker / Supporter / Debuffer
- Solid mix of Yin ATK and Agility at 1825 and 1500 respectively.
- Gains a 45% boost in bullets with elements effective against said target.
- Repeatedly gains 0.75 Spirit Power via Skill 3 for 3 Turns. Also gains Spirit Power for herself via Skill 2 (0.75) and Passive 3 every turn (0.35) and various Burn/Blind anomalies inflicted on herself via bullet lines. Team Spirit Power buffs are achieved via Post-ATK on Spell Card 2 (0.80).
- Grants Yin ATK for the team with Skill 3 and both Spell Card Post-ATKs. Grants herself more Yin ATK with her Last Word Pre-ATK.
- Debuffs an enemy’s Yin DEF with Spell Card 2 Pre-ATK and with All-Targeting Spell Card 1 and Last Word’s bullet lines.
- Gives CRIT ATK for the team with Spell Card 1’s Pre-ATK and gives herself more CRIT ATK with Spell Card 2’s Pre-ATK, and with her Focus Shot’s first line.
- Debuffs the CRIT DEF of her enemies with Spell Card 1’s Pre-ATK.
- Agility buffs for the whole team by means of Skills 2 and 3, as well as her Last Word’s Pre-ATK. Various bullet lines also entail Agility buffs for W5 Kasen.
- The above Agility buffs for W5 Kasen can go toward her Slice Scaling, going up to 175% on 5 of her Last Word’s bullet lines.
- Accuracy buffs given to the team by Skill 1, Boosting and Last Word Pre-ATK.
- W5 Kasen Ibaraki’s Killers include Youkai, Divine Spirit, Soul, Poltergeist, Phantom, Vengeful Spirit, Former Capital, Yaoyorozu no Kami, Tsukumogami, Tengu and Kappa.
As a Utility / Breaker
- W5 Kasen has access to 4 different elements with varying quantities. From Wood just barely appearing in her Shots, to Earth mainly in her Spell Cards, to Sun appearing only 1-2 times on any of her attacks, and to Metal mainly appearing in both Shots and her Last Word.
- When inflicted with any Burn or Blind anomalies, W5 Kasen is able to gain 0.20 Spirit Power as per her Ability. These selfish inflictions of either anomaly can be achieved in some form on any of her attacks.
- Can inflict Burn anomalies onto her enemies through Skill 2, Spell Card 1 and some on Spell Card 2’s bullet lines (on one target). These, alongside any Blind anomalies can be broken via Solo-Targeting Focus Shot (1P), All-Targeting Spell Card 1 (3P), Solo-Targeting Spell Card 2 (3P) and All-Targeting Last Word (2P).
- Can Dispel 2 Binds/Stat Debuffs of her own with Skill 1.
- Grants the team 3 Barriers through her Last Word Post-ATK.
- Reduces damage taken by 20% against Moon and Fire elemental bullets.
Story Card Recommendations

Spell Card
W5 Kasen doesn’t struggle a whole lot with important buffs, so if you want, you could double down on kinds of buffs that W5 Kasen benefits from, such as Spirit Power, Yin ATK, CRIT ATK, Agility or Accuracy, as well as more team buffs including the above. As for Spell Card damage, Spell Card 1 benefits from Slash Bullet Boosting Cards, with Energy ones for Spell Card 2 and both Spell Cards benefiting from Earth.

Last Word
Choose an Animal Spirit
At the Secluded Springs
Incident Shrine
Stand-In Shrine Maiden
Beach Sanshoku Geidontei
Disillusion
Break Time in Yomi
Two Girl Rock Band
Endless Summer Maiden
W5 Kasen’s Last Word is actually a precarious mix of 4 Lines of Body and 2 Lines of Energy, but this is actually not a worry, since we just so happen to have a Story Card that boosts both by 50%, being Choose an Animal Spirit! As for Body bullets being boosted, bringing 50% Boost Cards such as Incident Shrine, Stand-In Shrine Maiden and Beach Sanshoku Geidontei. However, a rare possible option to take advantage of would be At the Secluded Springs, as it boosts 4 lines of both Body and Metal by 25% each.
Speaking of Metal, some final options include Disillusion, Break Time in Yomi and Two Girl Rock Band bringing a 50% boost in Metal. As for a wacky, yet surprisingly viable option with a great stat stick in favor of W5 Kasen, Endless Summer Maiden gives a 45% boost in Metal, which outside of its 2.10 Spirit Power boost, may have its niche. As for more extreme niches, there is Unknown Barrier Team which in regular situations will ensure W5 Kasen maxes out her Yin ATK while boosting two of her Energy lines by 50%.
Character Skill Level Up Recommendations
The last of W5 Kasen’s 3 Skills, Closed Mouth Nio, is the most effective one to level up. With a more impactful increase in the team’s Yin ATK and Agility as well as that increase in Spirit Power lasting for 3 turns, which right off the jump, ensures she gets to 2P. Next up is the other Spirit Power Skill, being Skill 2, Shuten’s Right Arm. This one also further buffs the team’s Agility and adds another Burn anomaly infliction onto enemies. And finally, we have the first Skill, West Gate God, which brings the selfish Bind/Stat Debuff dispelling from 1 to 2 and adds another stage of Accuracy for the team.
Character Strengths
Tremendous Nio-Oni Strength
As what one could expect from an oni, or a Nio-Oni, W5 Kasen has the power to really hammer away on her enemies. With an impressive mix of Killers such as Youkai, Soul and Divine Spirit, a strong Slice Scaling such as 5 lines with 175% Slice Scaling in her Last Word and effective elements getting their own separate damage with an increase of 45% via her Ability, W5 Kasen has what it takes to go full steam ahead when it comes to crushing her enemies!
Nio-Oni’s Strong Support
When looking at her kit, you can see W5 Kasen is able to bring a good chunk of offensive support, such as Yin ATK, CRIT ATK, Spirit Power, Agility and Accuracy! This benefits W5 Kasen herself, but also her allies, thanks to her Skills, Spell Cards and more, with Agility benefiting other Friends with Slice Scaling, strong Accuracy buffs to make sure Friends can’t miss their targets, Yin ATK for Yin friends, CRIT ATK to help with landing CRITs and a bit of Spirit Power on top of it all. Should this be counted as support, she can also add in some debuffing via CRIT DEF and Yin DEF debuffs. On top of the commendable support…
Self-Sufficient Steampunk Servant of Shuten
...It’s needless to say that W5 Kasen is able to provide for herself what she needs to be as strong as she is in the first place. The above buffs can be racked up, especially Yin ATK, Agility and Accuracy. Should this Nio-Oni be in a bind, her Skill 1 can remove 2 Binds/Stat debuffs, and as for anomalies to work with, she can take advantage of Burn anomalies, whether it’s to self-inflict (with Blind) to increase her Spirit Power further, to inflict enemies with them to weaken their Yin stats, and/or to simply just land breaks (also with any Blind anomalies). Without any desperate need of external support, W5 Kasen has what it takes to lock horns with and grind the gears of her foes!
Character Weaknesses
Slightly Awkward Elemental Distribution
It should be noted this isn’t as awkward as other Friends, but the mix of Metal, Earth and a bit of Sun elemental bullets (and even very little Wood in her Shots) can be a little complicated, especially when taking into account her Ability’s effective/resisted elemental bullet power. Ultimately, it’s not a huge concern, but it’s not the most ideal elemental distribution for some.
