Character Analysis
Kutaka Niwatari (Underground Waste Ward Aligner) was released on June 9th in Prayer: “Chicken God Ultra Festival”
It’s time to sound the whistle! The God of Chickens from the Underground Waste Ward is a little different to the one we know from those healed throat illnesses. Blessed by the teachings of Piyo Sensei, Kutaka serves as the porter, guide and clerical god from the Spirit River Railroad, and she works with her fellow shinigami colleague to help keep the balance from below, serving under the Station Master. Keeping everything in line in the Underground is this version of Kutaka Niwatari’s bread and butter!
B3 Kutaka Niwatari is a Technical-Class Friend with Metal and Wood elements, Burn, Poison and Paralyze anomaly utility and a handful of other helpful tricks for herself and her teammates.
As an Attacker
- Increases her damage from Metal or Wood Elements by 25% if effective against the target.
- Increases her own Accuracy via Skill 1.
- Increases her own Spirit Power by using Skill 2 or Spell Card 2.
- Debuffs both Yin DEF and CRIT DEF via Skill 3 and Last Word. Skill 3 is on all targets and Last Word is on a single target.
- Has both Hard and Slice Scaling across her kit. Her Yin DEF and Agility buffs on her bullet lines across her attacks help this too.
- Soul, Undead, Lunarian, Lunar Capital and Moon Rabbit are among some of B3 Kutaka’s Killers.
As a Supporter
- Increases the team’s Spirit Power by 0.50 via Skill 1.
- Yin ATK buffs for the team by Skill 1 and by Boosting.
- Accuracy buffs for the team via Spell Card 1.
- CRIT Accuracy buffs given to the team when using both Spell Cards 1 and 2.
- Team Agility buffs via Spell Card 2.
- Is able to remove a Bind/Stat Debuff on all allies after using her Spell Card 1.
As a Utility
- Gives the whole team Quick, allowing them all to go first via their priority bracket.
- Burn anomaly utility: Increases her own Agility, Accuracy and Evasion for every Burn anomaly inflicted. Burn anomalies are inflicted onto all enemies via Skill 3 and Last Word, which can be broken via Spell Card 2 (All) and Last Word (Solo)
- Paralyze and Poison anomaly utility: Grants herself defensive buffs when inflicted with either anomaly. Paralyze and Poison anomalies inflicted upon herself via Skill 2 and Last Word. Poison anomalies are broken via Spell Card 1 (All) and Last Word (Solo)
- Takes 40% less damage from Soul-like presences via her Passive 1.
- Slightly increases her own Focus via her Spell Card 1 Bullet Line.
Story Card Recommendations
(Card recommendations last updated on June 08, 2023)
Spell Card
B3 Kutaka is able to lean into more of a supportive role with the help of the right Story Cards, which could also benefit herself in some ways too. On top of that, both Spell Cards are Energy and some specific cards conveniently do a bit of both supporting and damage dealing. Here are some cards below that can cover specific important roles you might be looking for.
Spirit Power Cards: The Witch of Scarlet Dreams, Our Dream, Midnight Tea, Taking a Breather In Spring
Team Spirit Power Cards: Myouren Temple Anniversary, Divine Spirits Tajikarao, Dancers Take the Stage!
Team Yin ATK Cards: Mansion of Memories, Tenma Mountain Starfall
Team CRIT ATK Cards: Worlds in Hand, Divine Spirits Tajikarao
Barrier Support Cards: Tropico-Fantasia!, Summer Rocket, Boundary of Sleep and Vigil, Little Laplace’s Demon, Moriya Shrine Anniversary.
Energy Bullet Cards: Unknown Barrier Team, Worlds in Hand, Mansion of Memories, Choose an Animal Spirit, Lunatic Red Eyes, Protection of Cerpinus (also boosts Wood), Thunder Beat (also boosts Wood), Underworld Party Night (debuffs an enemy’s Yin DEF and CRIT DEF)
Last Word
Infinity Garden
Disillusion
Little Sister and Sweets
Anniversary at the SDM
Occult Circle
Winter Holiday
Magic Trio
Infinity Garden lines up so well for B3 Kutaka, benefiting from that 50% Laser Boost while also debuffing the Yin DEF of all enemies as a result of her Technical Class. Because she also has a Full Metal Last Word, Disillusion would actually make a solid pick, and Little Sister and Sweets could serve as a slightly less effective version of Infinity Garden, yet still solid in its own right. If those options are not available to you, you could find some usage from cards like Anniversary at the SDM and Magic Trio with their additional effects on top of their lesser Laser boost, as well as Occult Circle and Winter Holiday for the 35% Laser boosts.
Character Skill Level Up Recommendations
First in line could be one of 2 choices, but since Spirit Power is very valuable and helps B3 Kutaka get up and running, we’ll go with the second Skill which is Quicksort, mainly for B3 Kutaka’s Spirit Power gain. It also benefits her in terms of buffing her defensive stats via Paralyze anomalies and making her Hard Scaling more effective. Next up by a small margin will be Mergesort. Upon leveling this up, team Accuracy will be more potent, they will gain even more Spirit Power and the cooldown rate is effectively halved from 8 turns to 4 turns! Finally will be Heapsort, which is still solid, but the additional CRIT DEF and Yin DEF debuffs as well as Burn anomaly inflictions on all enemies can wait a bit.
Character Strengths
Elemental Breaks and Anomaly Utility
B3 Kutaka has a decent amount of Wood breaks to work with and a greater amount of Metal breaks, such as 6 lines of Metal in her Last Word. On top of that, she does a good amount of things with 3 of the 5 anomalies, such as being able to increase her Accuracy, Agility and Evasion when inflicted with Burn, but can also inflict 4 layers of them onto enemies via Skill 3 and another 2 to all targets via Last Word, and assuming B3 Kutaka is at 2P, she can break these with her Spell Card 2 and her Last Word. Both Paralyze and Poison can be inflicted on himself to provide defensive buffs, and also via 2P, B3 Kutaka can break Poison anomalies on all enemies via Spell Card 1 and Last Word. Keep in mind her Last Word is Solo-Targeting though, but that said, her Burn anomaly breaking potential could be quite good in the best situations.
Clerical Chicken’s Carriages of Support
B3 Kutaka also has delivered some helpful gifts too. While some effects are for herself, others for the whole team can help quite a bit such as Accuracy, Yin ATK, Spirit Power, CRIT Accuracy, Agility and even being able to remove a Bind/Stat Debuff after using her Spell Card 1. The other effects are achieved via Skills and Spell Cards (and Boosting in the case of Yin ATK). B3 Kutaka also has another trick being that she can allow her whole team to attack first within their priority bracket by granting them all Quick on Skill 2, and can use Skill 3 to Debuff Yin DEF and CRIT DEF on all enemies too, which could help some other teammates, especially Yin-Based ones.
Character Weaknesses
Struggles on the side of Damage
Ultimately, B3 Kutaka’s damage is going to struggle at times. Despite her mix of Hard + Slice scaling as well as mix of buffs and debuffs, her Killer range including Soul, Undead, Lunarian, Lunar Capital and Moon Rabbit doesn’t quite cut it all the time. If these Killers land, her Solo-Targeting Last Word will do quite a number on a specific enemy, especially if they are weak to Metal, but otherwise, those aforementioned CRIT DEF debuffs might not be fully capitalized on.
