Character Analysis
Nemuno Sakata was released on October 1st, 2021 in Youkai Cleaver & Believer.
The Yamanba who Surpasses This Floating World's Barriers, Nemuno Sakata is a very simple woman. She's got a simple lifestyle on Youkai Mountain, intruders stay the hell out, and she likes it that way. Yet in spite of the murderous reputation she cultivates to scare people away, she's actually a bit of a softie. Perhaps too soft, but that big cleaver isn't just for show, she's still here to chop your foes up as a B Tier Friend.
For farming, Nemuno wants three turns - using Sharpen Sign: Madly Glinting Cleaver for 2 extra Spirit Power, with Yin ATK UP Story Cards to get a even sharper edge to her Last Word. Please note that this will only work at Awaken 5. Also make sure you avoid enemies who are immune to Paralyze, she is too reliant on it for the accuracy boost.
For harder fights, Nemuno is rather niche, but does have some uses. Essentially, she’s primarily a Solo targeting DPS, with a fairly back-loaded Last Word. However, her skill 1 does give her a secondary role due it applying 2 Paralyze barriers to all foes. This lets her either serve as Accuracy support in fights where you aren’t aiming for Breaks, or in combination with a Discharge attacker such as Minoriko to Break enemies no matter what their weaknesses may be. Additionally, she has slightly above average access to Metal Breaks, at 1/1/1/3 for 0/1/2/3 Power and 1/3 for 0/1 Power on Blade Exhaustion Sign: Mountain Murder and Sharpen Sign: Madly Glinting Cleaver respectively. Additionally, Sharpen Sign: Madly Glinting Cleaver refunds 1 Spirit Power on use, letting her get those Breaks out quickly and still sharpen her knife for a Last Word.
That’s it for Nemuno. She’s a simple Yamanba, with a big knife. Point that knife at your enemies, and she’ll do alright.
The Hard scaling of Red Thunder Dragon is 0%/0%/30%/0%/30%/50%
Story Card Recommendations
Spell Card
Due to Nemuno’s status as a Yin attacker, Story Cards which provide Yin ATK UP are her best bet for raising damage. In fights where you’re aiming to Full Break the opponent, make sure to give her some Accuracy too, since she won’t have the Paralyze barriers to provide her with Accuracy. Lastly, if you need Breaks for her, splash in a Spirit Power UP card - her second Spell Card’s Spirit Power refund only goes so far. For stat sticks, look to Yin ATK - you can also pick up Yin DEF, but her Last Word doesn’t really do a ton of Hard, so it’s not a huge priority.
Last Word
Nemuno will primarily want to look to Energy DMG UP (most notably Thunder Beat for also providing Wood DMG UP), thanks to her Last Word being blessed with every Bullet being tagged with Energy.
Character Skill Level Up Recommendations
If you have access to a Discharge attacker, Yamanba Kijutsu should be your priority. Otherwise, Mountain Ogress provides Nemuno with a big damage boost, and should be maxed next (or first, if Yamanba Kijutsu wasn’t a priority). Knife Sharpening still provides a benefit but a smaller one and can wait for last.
Character Strengths
+ Her Solo Last Word can hit pretty hard in longer fights
+ One of her skills inflicts 2 Paralyze barriers to all foes, fantastic for Discharge support
+ Slightly above average access to Metal Breaks
Character Weaknesses
- Little team utility outside of Paralyze barriers
- Damage is backloaded, making her incapable of eliminating priority targets quickly
