Yuyuko's two wooden swords were made from branches of the Saigyou Ayakashi and are, thus, ''bladeless.'' This means they can't cut, and so slicing with them results in a ''negative slice,'' which is the same as undoing a slice.
Yuyuko is a ghost who remains trapped between winter (death) and spring (birth), meaning she doesn't reincarnate. The Saigyou Ayakashi has a similar quality in that it cannot bloom, but by using swords made from it, Yuyuko can turn her own state of limbo into an advantage. Fates will intertwine in the reborn world as she makes her way there from the lost world.

Character Analysis
Yuyuko Saigyouji (Boundary of Time) was released on January 25th 2024 on Relic Prayer “Sword-Dancing Soul”. For more up-to-date analysis, be sure to visit the Official Discord Server.
The mistress of Hakugyokurou that is capable of manipulating death is yet another one of our beloved Friends who have lost their abilities and those close to her as a result of the Lost Word Incident. However, this also means she comes with brand new weapons, such as in this case, her Blue Blossom Blade and Blossoming Blade originating as branches from the Saigyouji Ayakashi and taking up the roles a certain Half-Human Half-Phantom’s Hakurouken and Roukanken respectively. With her newfound knowledge of the blade (or bladeless), can Yuyuko Saigyouji blossom, reunite with those close to her and inflict death upon this incident?
L80 Yuyuko Saigyouji is a Technical-Class Friend who gracefully arrives on the battlefield with a butterfly swarm’s worth of Yang DEF debuffing, decent support, Poison anomalies onto enemies inflicted and broken, and her own Wood Weakness infliction on enemies.
As an Attacker / Supporter / Debuffer
- L80 Yuyuko’s bullets get a 30% boost if their elements are effective against its enemies. Elements include Wood, Moon, Metal, Water and Earth.
- Gains a huge Spirit Power buff from Skill 2 (2.10) for herself and a team Spirit Power buff with Spell Card 1’s Post-ATK (0.80).
- Yang ATK buff for the team via Last Word Pre-ATK.
- Has a few ways to debuff the Yang DEF of her enemies, from Skills 1 and 3, as well as Spell Card 2’s Pre-ATK and some bullet lines on her Focus Shot.
- Grants the team CRIT ATK via Skill 3 and gives herself more CRIT ATK via Last Word Pre-ATK.
- Grants the team Accuracy when Boosting.
- Gives the team Yang DEF buffs through Skill 1, Spell Card 1 Pre-ATK and Last Word Pre-ATK. Also gains Yang DEF on some bullet lines from Spread Shot and on one from her Last Word.
- Agility buff for the team via Spell Card 1 Pre-ATK, as well as a Focus Shot Agility buff.
- The above Yang DEF and Agility buffs can go toward L80 Yuyuko’s Hard and Slice Scaling. Last Word’s Scaling goes up to 100% for both.
- Yin DEF debuffs from Skill 3, Spell Card 2’s Pre-ATK (on an enemy) and on a few bullet lines on her Focus Shot and Spell Card 1.
- Slight selfish CRIT Accuracy buffs on some bullet lines, including Spread Shot, Spell Card 1 and Spell Card 2.
- CRIT Evasion debuffing on enemies from Last Word Pre-ATK.
- L80 Yuyuko’s Killers include Parallel Presence, Mastermind (LW), Phantom, Soul, Swordswoman, Martial Artist, Magician, Netherworld, Spring, Winter, Flower, Insect, Fairy, Poltergeist, Undead, Hell, Animal Realm, Heaven, Moon-Related Party, and Lunar Capital
As a Utility / Breaker
- Is the second Friend to have an Elemental Weakness infliction, this time being Wood, achieved via Skill 3. For L80 Yuyuko herself, this benefits her Last Word and Focus Shot especially, and can greatly benefit other Friends who have a lot of Wood elemental bullets.
- Other elements aside from Wood include Moon, frequently appearing on both Spell Cards and Spread Shot while slightly appearing in her Focus Shot and Last Word, Metal appearing in a half of her Spell Card 1, and Water and Earth slightly appearing in her kit.
- When inflicted with a layer of Poison or Freeze, L80 Yuyuko’s Yin DEF, Yang DEF, CRIT DEF and CRIT Evasion go up a stage. She can achieve this herself from Skill 2 and both Spell Cards’ bullet lines.
- Can inflict and break mainly Poison anomalies, with inflictions being from Skill 1, Spell Card 1 Pre-ATK and Last Word Pre-ATK, as well as a Passive inflicting one layer of Poison on an enemy every turn. Breaks are achieved via All-Targeting Spread Shot (3P), Solo-Targeting Focus Shot (1P), All-Targeting Spell Card 1 (3P) and All-Targeting Last Word (3P). A Freeze break is also possible through the same Spread Shot.
- Gains 2 Barriers from Spell Card 2’s Post-ATK.
- Due to her Ability, takes 25% less damage from Earth elemental bullets.
Story Card Recommendations
(Card recommendations last updated on February 15, 2024)
Spell Card
Ideally, L80 Yuyuko would benefit from Yang ATK buffs above all else, especially if the Yang DEF debuffing isn’t enough. Other kinds of Story Cards that could help would be Spirit Power buffing ones and/or CRIT ATK, Agility and maybe even Accuracy if you want to focus more on the offensive side. If you aren’t worried about that though, you can then look to cards that will make L80 Yuyuko’s Spell Cards more powerful, whether it’s Slash Bullet boosting ones for Spell Card 1, Body Bullet boosting options for Spell Card 2, or Moon element boosting picks for either/both.

Boundary of Time
Break Time in Yomi
The Moon and Izayoi
Mysterious Sword Master
Disillusion
Kaguya's Moonlit Festival!
Gaze Upon the Flowers
Little Sister and Sweets
Blue Goodbyes
Channeling her inner Youmu, L80 Yuyuko’s Last Word being Slash means there are a good chunk of picks she can work with, but of course, her very own Boundary of Time is head and shoulders above the rest for its 50% boost in both Wood and Slash, as well as an additional CRIT ATK buff for the team.
Other Slash options include Break Time in Yomi, The Moon and Izayoi, Mysterious Sword Master and Disillusion, for their huge Slash boosts should the above not be available for you. As for using the 4 Wood bullet lines to your advantage, you could also look at cards like Kaguya’s Moonlit Festival! (also boosting one of her Moon bullets in this Last Word), Gaze Upon the Flowers, Little Sister and Sweets and Blue Goodbyes.
Character Skill Level Up Recommendations
L80 Yuyuko’s only Skill that gives her Spirit Power is Skill 2’s Huaxu Ghost, which can give her more than enough to get to 3P immediately. Other benefits include more CRIT ATK buffs for the team as well as more Freeze anomalies onto herself. Speaking of anomalies, next up is Skill 1’s Saigyouji Daughter, adding another layer of Poison onto enemies, another stage of Yang DEF on enemies debuffed, and another stage of Yang DEF for the team. Finally, we have Skill 3’s Netherworld Bloom. The only effects being benefited here are the Yin and Yang DEF debuffs, with the Wood infliction remaining unaffected.
Character Strengths
Blossoming Power
Through combined Hard and Slice Scaling, a 30% boost in effective elemental bullets that can be taken advantage of, and constant Yang DEF debuffing, L80 Yuyuko does have what it takes to cut away at her enemies using raw power, which especially with full setup and enemies susceptible to Killers, this will be a rather powerful Boundary for enemies to overcome.
Olive Branch of Support
While the usual team buffs being a bit of CRIT ATK, Spirit Power, Accuracy, Yang DEF and even some Agility are helpful, as well as Yang DEF and Yin DEF debuffs that could be of use to some allies, they woodn’t hold a candle to L80 Yuyuko’s own Wood weakness infliction achieved through Skill 3! Not only can this greatly benefit her Last Word, but also multiple allies that like their Wood elemental bullets, such as F1 Koishi, A7A Reimu, A7B Reimu, B5 Lunasa, H5 Mystia and more!
Bladeless Poison
L80 Yuyuko is also capable of breaking down the Barriers of her enemies with her ways of inflicting and breaking Poison anomalies. With breaking achieved from both Shots, her Spell Card 1 and Last Word, and with inflictions through her Passive 1, Skill 1, Spell Card 1 and Last Word, plus with L80 Yuyuko’s ability to reach 3P off the jump thanks to Skill 2, she can even break 5-6 Poison anomalies instantly!
Character Weaknesses
Lacking in Yang ATK Buffs
While her many Yang DEF debuffs can somewhat mitigate this issue, once Barrier breaking and gauge clearing is in question, those very debuffs can disappear, with L80 Yuyuko’s only way to gain Yang ATK naturally being from her Last Word Pre-ATK. This is something that Story Cards and allies can support her with, such as a familiar L80 Youmu for example.
Quantity over Quality with Killers
Losing the ability to manipulate death seems to have taken a toll on L80 Yuyuko, as she has found herself going the quantity over quality route when it comes to the Killers she has access to. Her large selection of them is mainly carried by her Parallel Presence Killers, so that could be a bit of an issue for her on specific stages.
