For now, at least, it seems you'd do well to rid yourself of the notion that magic and science are opposed to one another and that they cannot coexist. That applies especially to the alternate future, in which it wouldn't be strange for the meanings of ''magic'' and ''science,'' as well as all their connotations, to have changed drastically. This is no different from the way words from the past are used differently in the present. Even the pronunciation of some words may change over time. All of the above applies to humans, so it must surely apply to dolls too...
