Overview

Mega Scaptile is one of the best Mega Evolutions in the game, so it's a good thing that it's a bit of a pushover! With a double-weakness to Ice, this is not going to be a hard Duo to run, though the moveset that you face can change up the dynamics a bit depending on your team. Note that a Solo run is possible, but this article will primarily focus on the much more achievable Duo.

Approach

Team composition

  • Ice Types are the way to go.

  • The Ice Type Mega Evolutions both have great overall performance, making either a perfect pick for this raid.

  • Most options are well within Duo range, so build for TDO if you're not aiming for the elusive Solo.

Battling strategy

  • Mega Sceptile's moves can run the gamut from easy to deal with to hard, so try to work out the moveset that you'll be facing before the raid based on default recommendations and prepare your dodging strategy to match.

Best Raid Boss Counters

Mega Evolution Counters

Mega Glalie Mega Glalie
Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

The DPS Mega for this raid, Mega Glalie is a vanilla Ice Type that puts in great work and does its job like a pro.

Mega Abomasnow Mega Abomasnow
Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

The TDO Mega for this raid, Mega Abomasnow can flaunt its Grass typing to resist some of Mega Sceptile's strongest attacks while dealing damage similar to Mega Glalie. Watch out for Aerial Ace, but don't worry about Fury Cutter as its damage output is so low that the Super Effective multiplier is a drop in the bucket.

Supreme Counters

ShadowSwine Shadow Mamoswine
Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

Shadow Mamoswine does not like facing down Mega Sceptile's Grass moves, especially Leaf Blade, but its raw power is so great that it's worth picking regardless of the situation.

ShadowWeavile Shadow Weavile
Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

One of the fastest little Ice Types in the game in terms of DPS, Shadow Weavile falls short of Shadow Mamoswine on every front in this raid, but is still very worth putting on your team!

Galarian Darmanitan Galarian Darmanitan
Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

Yeti-afro-Donkey Kong is still a power-house Pokemon that puts in ourstanding performance as an Ice Type. And the fact that it's probably the most accessible of the top counters means that it should be a top pick in most Mega Sceptile raids.

Good Counters

Mamoswine Mamoswine
Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

While not the Ice-king that it once was, Mamoswine is still very much a welcomed Pokemon for this raid. Just watch out for those Grass moves!

Shadow Mewtwo Shadow Mewtwo
Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

Yet another testament to the power of Shadow Mewtwo. Drop some Ice Beams and watch as this genetically modified lifeform drops huge damage in short order.

Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

Easily the most generally-available Pokemon on this list, Glaceon puts in surprisingly good work against Mega Sceptile.

Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

It's pretty important to remember that Mega Sceptile gets 1/2 of its Ice weakness from its Dragon sub-typing, meaning it's also weak to Dragon Type moves. And while that's not a huge deal most of the time, it's enough to let Kyurem's Dragon Breath slip in this high on the list, mainly due to the sheer power of Glaciate and its resistance to Grass Type movesets. Just watch out for Dragon Claw!

Shadow Articuno Shadow Articuno
Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

Yeah, I'm as surprised as you are.

Shadow Articuno is surprisingly good here. Its DPS is a bit low, but it's still very much Duo-worthy. Its huge TDO that's aided in part by its resistance to a good portion of Mega Sceptile's moveset makes it a great option for this raid.

Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

Squishy, but good.

walrein Shadow Walrein
Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

A bit middle-of-the-road, Shadow Walrein puts in good numbers but does not like Grass Type moves.

Shadow Salamence Shadow Salamence
Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

It took this long to find a full Dragon moveset on this list, but here we are! Shadow Salamence is well known for its raw power, and it's able to break through all of the Ice Types and score solid hit. It also has the added advantage of resisting Fury Cutter and double-resisting Earthquake and Grass Type movesets. Just be mindful of Dragon Claw when choosing this monster for your team.

Solid DPS, but low TDO.
