  • Cervantes’s incredible statline makes him a prime Arena scoring unit candidate and a decent Near Save user.
  • Lance users have a variety of great weapons to choose from, but the Stout Lance is particularly noteworthy thanks to its 50% damage reduction against the first attack of foes who can perform a follow-up attack against Cervantes.
  • A combination of a statboosting A slot skill and a Fighter skill is necessary to maximize Cervantes’s effectiveness as a Near Save unit. Atk/Def Unity + Crafty Fighter and Sturdy Stance 3 + Slick Fighter both provide Cervantes with both additional stats, Guard, a guaranteed follow-up attack, and some form of penalty neutralization. Close Def or Slick Fighter can also be used to negate a foe’s buffs in the place of another effect.
  • A Save skill is mandatory for this build, although no particular Save skill is needed: It’s only necessary that it’s a Near Save skill.
  • Defensive seals such as Mystic Boost and Steady Breath do an excellent job of rounding out Cervantes’s kit.

Strengths

Statline

With a jaw dropping base 45 Attack and 44 Defense, not to mention a quite high base 50 HP, Cervantes is a prime Near Save candidate and physical tank.

Armored

Cervantes’s Armored status gives him access to the incredible Fighter skills in addition to Savior skill access.

Weaknesses

Effective Damage

Cervantes’s physical bulk is so high he should be reasonably capable of tanking some physical armor effective weaponry, but he should still be wary of armor effective damage and steer clear of magic based armor effective weaponry such as Micaiah’s Thani.

Low Resistance

With only base 25 Resistance, Cervantes will be hard pressed to survive combat against hard hitting magic users without heavy investment, which is generally not advisable as Cervantes is far more effective making use of Near Save.
