Overview
M1911 is an extremely common HG that everyone gets when they first begin the game. With a smoke grenade skill that is the exception rather than the rule, M1911 is remarkable, iconic, and shows none of that power for most of her life until her Neural Upgrade arrived. She is also cheap to raise: being only a 2★ unit that drops from all maps, M1911 can be dummy linked with only dupes of her, which come by the truckload. However, with her below-average stat spread, lack of utility, and a skill that requires follow-up from another SMG to capitalise on, M1911 is lackluster.
With her below-average Evasion, HP, and no shortage of substitutes for a position 4 buffer (such as 5-7, Stechkin, among others), M1911 is not far off the bottom of the list. She does not deal damage. She does not tank well (if at all!). She does not provide stat buffs. Her tiles do not make enough difference to buff ARs and RFs to a noticeable degree. There are only two reasons left to justify raising M1911: either you love Devil May Cry, or you think her Neural Upgrade is worth it.

Overview
M1911 Mod is an unusual unit. Continuing the trend of being a utility HG, she now packs an ear-splitting, surprisingly strong damage skill, becoming a strong independent HG that needs no Shikikan. Bearing her prior weaknesses in mind, M1911 still has her niche as a One-Doll-Army. This army, however, will only see the light of day against weak enemies. Low-level stages. The type of compositions that even new players can shrug off like water off a duck’s back. In light of other HGs that are straightforward to obtain, like Python or Desert Eagle, M1911 Mod will find herself sharing the centre of attention with increasingly more competitors.
Strengths
Skill
With a 1s initial cooldown, Smoke Grenade comes out fast and acts fast.
Weaknesses
Tiles
The cross shape of her tiles make M1911 suitable for position 4 in a team, where she can buff ARs or RFs on positions 1 and 7. However, there are many other HGs competing for this spot - SAA, Stechkin, K5, Grizzly, just to name a few - and with only 20% ROF and 50% Acc, M1911 does not bring anything meaningful to the table.
Skill
Smoke Grenade, by itself, is not an effective crowd control. It reduces enemy movement and ROF for as long as they are in the smoke - and in most cases, it’s not very long at all.
Depressing Stats
M1911 ranks below average in every area - Firepower, Accuracy, Evasion, RoF, and even maximum health.
Strengths
Skill
Going to Mod 2 strengthens Smoke Grenade, taking it from 2★ stats to 4★ stats. But the increased strength of the smoke is insignificant compared to her Skill 2, Desperate Sharpshooter. Dealing 7 attacks at 200% of her FP fixes some of the problems pre mod M1911 had - low FP, low RoF, and low ACC. Seven guaranteed attacks on squishier backline targets add up to a considerable amount of damage against the right enemies.
Weaknesses
Stats
Neither Mod 2 nor Mod 3 fixes the fundamental problems with M1911 that she had pre-mod: she does not buff her allies, her special equipment requires triple the cost to enhance as the 5★ ILM Hollow Point ammunition for barely 13% more FP, and her base stats were not great to begin with.
Full Analysis
Thanks to the 1-second Initial Cooldown of Smoke Grenade, Desperate Sharpshooter is essentially a free bit of Burst DPS in general use that comes as soon as 3 seconds into the battle, allowing her to soften up the first few targets prior to the main DPS of an echelon activating their skills. This shines in 5HG echelons, where M1911 Mod can be a compelling DPS option due to the rapid activation of her skill and relatively potent Damage output. Her unique Equipment, the XM261 ACP, barely improves upon this, giving an extra 2 damage over standard Hollow Point ammo for thrice the resource needed to level it. She fell out in favour of Python and Deagle for 5HG teams.
However, with the existence of M4 Mod III, G11, and AN-94, along with balooning enemy HP, 5HG echelons have been out of fashion for a while. Experienced Commanders can still find a use for them in more meme-full situations.
Team Options
M1911 belongs in either position 4 buffing both DPS units or position 8 buffing the unit on position 7 only. Buffing one unit is not wholly detrimental, as HGs and SMGs that can buff both DPS units from positions 2 or 8 are not available for Commanders until they have progressed toward more recent content.

Team Options
None needed. M1911 Mod needs no partner.
Realistically speaking, as she still has her cross-shaped tiles, pre-mod standards still apply. She can still perform well in an RF team, buying valuable time for the DPS Dolls to mow down the enemies as they get stuck in your smoke.

For solo farming, place M1911 Mod in any position on the back column as is necessary to body-block anyone running past her firepower. Being placed on the back row buys time for M1911 Mod to shoot the enemies more.
