Overview

M1911 Mod makes for an interesting addition to the HG pool. The only HG with a Smoke Grenade, M1911 Mod matches UMP 45’s Smoke Grenade, greatly improving its utility, while also gaining the new Skill Desperate Sharpshooter. This Skill gives her a burst of DPS after throwing the Smoke Grenade, adding a new and interesting mechanic to her gameplay.

M1911 Mod straddles the line between defensive and offensive HG thanks to her two Skills, giving her a rather unique niche that no other HG can occupy. For a 5HG echelon, she is a solid DPS choice, and her Smoke Grenade allows her to provide defensive support to both RF and AR echelons alongside a respectable set of Tile Buffs. More importantly, she will perform either role in a satisfactory manner, so Commanders do not need to worry about compromising her effectiveness to gain new abilities.

Strengths

Improved Smoke Grenade

M1911’s Smoke Grenade is improved to match UMP 45’s, making it a solid defensive option to increase echelon longevity.

Unique Secondary Skill

M1911 Mod’s secondary Skill, Desperate Sharpshooter, gives her a unique ability to provide respectable burst damage after throwing out the Smoke Grenade. The Skill is actually strong enough to kill a decent number of enemies, and does not require high Training Data investment to be effective.

Weaknesses

Middling Damage and Rate of Fire

Even post neural upgrade, M1911’s Damage and ROF remain somewhat mediocre, forcing her to rely upon the burst of damage from Desperate Sharpshooter to deal respectable damage.

Full Analysis

M1911 Mod benefits a great deal from her neural upgrade stat wise. Her Damage increases to 29, Evasion to 78, and her Rate of Fire improves to 78, allowing her to fire one frame sooner. As a nice bonus the boost in RoF comes at MOD I allowing M1911 Mod to immediately benefit from it. A small boost in Evasion helps improve her durability in the Offtank position, and the extra Damage is valuable for maximizing the damage dealt by her MOD II Skill.

Alongside her jump in Rarity, M1911 Mod’s Smoke Grenade improves, now matching UMP45’s. A 40% debuff to enemy ROF and 50% debuff to movement speed provides valuable utility, and represents a noticeable jump from her pre-upgrade Skill.

The star of the show for M1911 Mod is her secondary Skill, Desperate Sharpshooter. After throwing her Smoke Grenade, M1911 Mod’s next seven attacks will deal 200% Damage and target the farthest enemy, and move closer with each shot. Should there be less than 7 enemies available, any extra shots will be fired at the final target. An example of this in action is given below.

Thanks to the 1 second Initial Cooldown of Smoke Grenade, Desperate Sharpshooter is essentially a free bit of Burst DPS in general use that comes as soon as 3 seconds into the battle, allowing her to soften up the first few targets prior to the main DPS of an echelon activating their skills. This shines in 5HG echelons, where M1911 Mod can be a compelling DPS option due to the rapid activation of her skill and relatively potent Damage output. Her unique Equipment, the XM261 ACP, further improves upon this, giving an extra 2 damage over standard Hollow Point ammo. This provides a noticeable improvement to M1911 Mod’s DPS in a 5HG echelon, and so is a worthwhile investment for those wishing to use her in this role.

M1911’s tiles also received an upgrade, now providing a potent 24% RoF and 60% Accuracy to the tiles directly adjacent to her. The RoF Buff makes M1911 Mod a solid choice for a wide variety of Dolls, given the direct relationship between the Rate of Fire and DPS. Accuracy is a somewhat less valuable buff, but it will soon be needed given the increasing Evasion of enemies in upcoming content. The positioning of her tiles is somewhat unfortunate, limiting M1911 to either position 4 or 8, and only able to buff one backline DPS in the latter case.

M1911’s neural upgrade offers her new and interesting usage options, while improving upon her existing niche. As a defensive support, M1911 Mod excels due to her unique situation as the only Smoke Grenade HG user, while Desperate Sharpshooter’s added DPS is always a welcome addition to any echelon, especially so in a 5HG team.

Team Options

HGs

M1911 Mod is a potent DPS option for 5HG teams. When choosing her teammates in such a scenario, it is important to keep in mind that Desperate Sharpshooter is likely to activate before Damage or RoF boosting skills come online, making her rely solely on tile buffs to boost its damage. While commanders are encouraged to experiment with 5HG team compositions to find something that works well for their specific situation, it is hard to go wrong with classic 5HG picks like Grizzly, Contender, GSh-18, Welrod MkII, SAA, and Mk23.

Self Buffing RFs

Thanks to her RoF and Accuracy buffing tiles, M1911 Mod can be placed into RF echelons either in position 4 to support both DPS, or at position 8 in the frontline. Her Smoke Grenade is welcome support for such teams, helping to limit early incoming damage, while M1911 herself adds respectable burst damage via her secondary Skill. M14, WA2000, SVD, K31, Lee-Enfield, and G28 are just some of the many possible team members for M1911 Mod.

K31 in particular, appreciates the negation of her Skill’s Accuracy Debuff and so, makes a solid partner for M1911 Mod.

ARs

M1911 Mod’s utility in a standard AR squad is much the same as in an RF one. DPS ARs that can use some more RoF such as G41, G36, and Type 95 benefit well from M1911’s Tiles, and Type 95 in particular does not have to worry about her tile not hitting position 8 if M1911 is placed there instead of a SMG.

M1911 Mod may also be used in a night echelon for vision, although the efficacy of both her Smoke Grenade and Desperate Sharpshooter’s burst will be lessened against armored foes. In such a team, OTs-14 and 9A-91 are the optimal choices.
