Character Analysis
Alice Margatroid (Skilled Droid Engineer) was released on May 19th 2023 in "Ultra Festival Prayer: Cyberpunk Puppeteer." For more up-to-date analysis, be sure to visit the Official Discord Server.
Another Alice, another Wonderland…or Cyberland? It’s one thing to be the puppeteer we all know her for, but to also be skilled at crafting military outfits is quite impressive too. Not only do we know her as the Seven Colored Puppeteer, but it turns out that title couldn’t be more accurate when she has to bring the artillery of her own, and despite straying the furthest from Gensokyo of the current variants of Alice Margatroid, know what she doesn’t have her tail between her legs because she will do what she does best, whether it be engineering at the atelier or bringing herself (and her dolls) to the forefront.
B5 Alice Margatroid is a Support-Class Friend who keeps the team going with Spirit Power, Yang ATK, CRIT ATK, Yang DEF and Accuracy buffs.
As a Supporter
- Provides the team a lot of Spirit Power via Skill 3, Second Spell Card and Last Word.
- Yang ATK buffs from Boosting, Grazing, Second Spell Card and Last Word.
- Team-wide Barriers from Skill 2.
- Accuracy buffs from Skill 1, having a 2 Turn Cooldown yet lasts for 3 Turns.
- Yang DEF buffs for the team via Last Word.
As a Tank
- Will gain 5% HP when hit with a Burn or Paralyze anomaly. This can be achieved via Skills 2 and 3 as well as on some Spell Card/Last Word bullet lines.
- Passive 3 allows her to heal her own HP by 20% every turn.
- Takes 35% less damage from Metal elemental bullets via Passive 1.
As an Attacker
- Has Killers including Soul, Lunar Capital, Machine and Moon Rabbit.
- Has access to both Hard and Slice scaling.
As a Utility
- Can inflict and break Paralyze anomalies; inflictions are done via Skill 2 and First Spell Card. Are broken via Spread Shot, First Spell Card and Last Word.
- Can inflict and break Burn anomalies; inflictions are done via Skill 3 and Second Spell Card. Can be broken via Second Spell Card and Last Word.
- Due to having Specular on all Second Spell Card and Last Word bullets, she also benefits from Yin DEF debuffing on enemies, which some do appear on her Last Word bullet lines.
Story Card Recommendations
(Card recommendations last updated on December 24, 2023)
Spell Card
B5 Alice will want to have Spirit Power and Yang ATK UP cards to get the most out of her. For Spirit Power, The Witch of Scarlet Dreams never fails in terms of what it sets out to do, and that includes here, but if you want to double down on Spirit Power support, Myouren Temple Anniversary works very well too, also having a small Metal boost. Next we have cards like How Irrational, Ordinary Magician and Kasen’s Senkai. The first of the bunch also has a slight Boost in Sharp bullets which will have its benefits too, but Nameless Adventurers will help B5 Alice double down on Yang ATK buffs if necessary. Lastly, for pure damage, cards like I’m Alright! or Sporadically Margaret are also great for their Sharp bullet buffs by 50%, with the former also giving her an extra Barrier.
Last Word
Another Alice with Sharp in her Last Word means that B5 Alice will also see great benefit from Sporadically Margaret, due to the 50% Sharp effect it entails. The 1 line of Wood B5 Alice also has is all the difference that was needed to put it firmly above the still useful I’m Alright! Story Card, with a Barrier effect if that can see some use. Next up, despite not being available as of this moment, Disillusion is surprisingly not a bad choice due to 3 lines of her Last Word getting a 50% boost due to being Metal. There is also a slight team Yang ATK buff as a result of the card’s additional Support-exclusive effect too. If any of the above aren’t available to you, cards like The Heat of my Fingertips, How Irrational…, Myouren Temple Anniversary and Dancing With Butterflies.
Character Skill Level Up Recommendations
Since Spirit Power is important, we can start with the last Skill, Gas-Welding Puppet as it boosts the team’s whole Spirit Power count by 1.20. Next up is the first Skill, Controller Puppet. Additional Spirit Power for B5 Alice as well as even more effective team Accuracy helps a lot. Lastly is the situational second skill, Arc-Welding Puppet which is rather situational due to the team-wide Paralyze anomalies onto her team, but Barriers for them as well as Paralyze anomalies also on her foes can be useful.
Character Strengths
Very Helpful Support
B5 Alice comes with all kinds of high-tech support to help the team. These include Barriers, Yang DEF, Yang ATK, CRIT ATK, a good amount of Spirit Power, and even Accuracy buffs that can be stacked up! This can be achieved via her Skill 1 which has a cooldown rate (2 turns) lower than the duration of this effect (3 turns) meaning it’s definitely possible to max out this stat if you give this engineer long enough to perfect the team’s aim!
Atelier of Anomalies
There is a lot that B5 Alice can do with Burn and Paralyze anomalies. She could use them to inflict and break barriers on enemies, using them to heal her own HP by 5% as per her ability, or even subject allies to it, which the correct ones will definitely appreciate if they benefit from it. With Spell Cards providing an accessible way to both inflict and break an anomaly at once, you’ll definitely find a benefit in that field.
Character Weaknesses
Limited Killers
B5 Alice generally struggles with dealing damage, as her Killer range isn’t very good (Soul, Lunar Capital, Lunarian, Moon Rabbit, Machine, etc) meaning she can’t capitalize on her CRIT ATK she can build up. That said, having both Hard and Slice scaling to work with, and both being used in her Last Word will help a bit at least.
Alice in Rainbowland (Cyber Edition)
Granted, this Alice variant isn’t the most excessive when it comes to how rainbow-themed her bullet line elements are, especially since there is a clear emphasis towards Metal overall, but even then, she cannot take advantage of that specific element as much as some other units due to other elements getting in the way.
