Overview

Giratina - Origin Forme is a very powerful Pokemon that basically everyone wants/needs in order to build a complete raid and/or PvP team. And good news; it is definitely possible to duo this Pokemon, especially in the proper weather. In fact, a huge number of Pokemon hit the required 25 DPS to be duo-viable

The issue with this: Giratina - Origin Forme hits like a truck. Despite some Pokemon sporting obscene DPS against this monster, it will cause most teams to wipe multiple times and lose as a result, so prioritizing TDO is important for the duo, so long as the team has an average DPS above the target 25 DPS.

For the duo, it's important to make sure that your team doesn't all wipe at the same time, because Giratina will heal in this scenario. A good strategy is to have one player burn through 2-3 Pokemon, then drop out and quickly heal/re-enter. This should allow the players to stagger their wipes and prevent Giratina from healing.

Approach

Team composition

  • For Mega Evolutions, aim for Mega Houndoom or Mega Charizard X. The former sports higher damage and huge damage boosts to Dark Types, while the latter can boost the already high DPS of monsters like Shadow Salamence to obscene levels.
  • Sadly, Shadows dominate this fight.
  • While they don't have the highest DPS, Shadow Tyranitar, Shadow Weavile, and Darkrai are key players vs. Ghost Type movesets. They have the DPS to duo, and some of the highest TDO in this fight as well. Normal Tyranitar and Weavile's DPS is too low for a duo, but they can be viable if paired with high DPS teammates.
  • Shadow Gardevoir is the go-to for Dragon Type movesets, but is very risky against any Ghost Type charged moves. Normal Gardevoir is okay for this role as well, but its DPS is short of the 25 required for a duo.
  • Shadow Snorlax is the top tank counter. It has absolutely huge TDO and will stay on the field for a very long time, but its DPS is a bit low, so it needs to be paired with high DPS options. Normal Snorlax's DPS is far too low to be viable.
  • Shadow Salamence and Shadow Dragonite sport the highest DPS among all counters, but are very frail and can compound the relobby problem.
  • Rayquaza, Salamence, Gengar, Chandelure, Zekrom, Palkia, Garchomp, Dialga, and most of the non-shadow "usual suspects" are all viable and can run the duo if used with a balancing team comp and/or positive weather, though they do make it harder.

Dodging strategy

  • Dodging is a good idea, especially if you've got a few super high DPS options.
