"Bruiser"
PvP
Since the counter attack aspect of Ervalen's kit is buff based, it's alright if he's on the slower side, which means while he has the option to go speed set, he can make very good use of a lifesteal or a destruction set. Lifesteal in general is more useful and definitely better in a bruiser comp. Destruction would probably be the go to in a speed comp.

Analysis
Overview
Ervalen is a 5* Earth Thief whose hallmark trait is granting himself counterattack buff, the first gacha hero in the game to do so. He has a strong single target combo and utility that allows him to fit into both a speed team as a DPS and a tank team as a bruiser. His kit is so versatile he is even viable as the designated DPS unit in a Banshee one shot team. His biggest strength is that his versatility allows him to be used in many scenarios, which also marks his biggest weakness, he has many stronger competitors in a given team slot. However, for players who lack a wide hero pool, he is a great A tier hero that will service many roles.
Strengths
Versatility
Since he packs damage with huge scaling, defensive utilities in his barrier and immunity, and can reliably counter attack, making him a strong A tier pick in many different contents. Not only can he be a counter attacking threat in PvP, he can be used to one shot Banshee, giving players who don’t have Baiken an option for quick hunts.
Reverse HP Scaling
Like how Tempest Surin works, the lower his max HP is, the more his S3 damage will be amped and his S2 CR gain will be. This allows Ervalen to funnel all of his stats into other more valued stats such as ATK% since that would give him both more damage and bulk on his barrier.
Extra Turn Soulburn + Short Cooldowns
One of the strongest properties of a good PvP nuker is the ability to soul burn for extra turns as it noy only enables the chaining of combos but also helps reduce cooldowns in a longer fight. In some high end fights, staying 1 turn ahead of the enemy tank or reviver in terms of cooldown can make all the difference. On top of that, Ervalen’s cooldowns are naturally insanely short at 2 and 4 turns on S2 and S3 respectively, making him a very potent threat in a long fight if kept alive.
Weaknesses
Has no Specialization
Being so versatile means that Ervalen will have plenty of competition in each one of his roles. As a DPS in a speed team (Aux Lots), he would compete against Judge Kise (who deals AoE damage). As a banshee one shotter, he is harder to gear compared to Baiken. As a single target bruiser in a bruiser team, he is nowhere near the stickiness of Remnant Violet. Ervalen faces many competitions in each role he would excel in, putting him in solid to low A tier in everything he can do. But since he is a versatile hero that is only outclassed by moonlight specialist, he is still a solid character for newer and budget players.
Only Single Target Based
Being only single target means that he isn’t that viable on a defense team since he’ll be easily baited by water tanks, meaning for newer players to put a lot of investment into him, they’re not getting back that value in a character who is also good on defense.
Requires Good Support
If players are running a speed team then they need to out speed. If players run a bruiser comp then they require high level artifacts and be fast enough to buff Ervalen to keep him alive in extended fights.
