Debuffer/DPS
PvP
Elphelt could be built 1 of 2 ways: Debuffer/DPS with no speed or speedy full debuffer with barely enough damage to kill a squishy target. In this build we look at how we can maximize Elphelt's damage.
Stats
Gearing for DPS heroes is always straight forward as we would want the highest combination between attack and crit damage. But for Elphelt, she needs to have a solid amount of effectiveness in order to land her debuffs. Crit Chance can be scuffed in favor of effectiveness or more damage but having a good enough means her S3 can hit harder, which can help against tankier targets.
Effectiveness Reference:
30 - enough against most builds (Elphelt's base eff %)
100 - enough against res based bruisers
150 - enough against res based soul weavers
Sets
Since Rage set has been the de facto number 1 set for debuffed enemies, it is logically the best set to run on a debuffer/DPS. Players then have the choice between critical, immunity, or hit, depending on what stats they are looking to supplement.
Artifacts
Song of Stars - Probably the best-in-slot for her as not only does it increase damage taken by 15%, it also contributes to S2's 15% increase per additional debuff, which scales together.
Portrait of the Saviors - is an acceptable substitution for players who don't have a maxed out SoS and prefer the stability.

Analysis
Overview
Elphelt Valentine is a 5* Fire Ranger released as a part of the Guilty Gear collaboration rerun. Elphelt is played as a single target combo DPS with the ability to defense break a target, or all enemies if she can finish off a target. She has seen a controversial release due to her low damage multipliers and her combo not being able to finish most tankier targets through defense breaks. Despite that perception, it is definitely possible for her to kill most targets with refined gear and maximized investment.
Strengths
AoE Defense Break
Elphelt’s signature ability is her ability to apply AoE Defense Break when she kills her target. This is particularly powerful because it can apply on units such as Champion Zerato or Ambitious Tywin without activating their debuff based counterattack or cleanse, allowing setup for cleaving an otherwise uncleavable team.
Built in Buff Dispel
Elphelt’s S3, Magnum Wedding, comes with a built in 1 buff dispel, which can be used to remove immunity in order to set up her combo. Do note that her AoE defense break would still be resisted if the rest of the enemies have immunity.
Lowers Crit Chance Requirement
Since Elphelt’s S2, Judge Better Half, increases the critical chance of all allies and her S3 can inflict sleep, this allows her entire team to be built with 50% crit chance if players plan to finish fights within 2 turns. One thing to note about this is that while she can be build with lower crit, in order to kill tankier targets, is it still best to get her crit rate as high as possible.
Weaknesses
Abysmal Offensive Stats
With barely over 1,000 attack and no awakenings to enhance that, Elphelt has one of the lowest attacks for a single target DPS hero. To combat this, players should focus on getting her attack into a comfortable spot while maximizing critical damage.
Ridiculously Low Skill Mods
Combo’d with her bad offensive stats is her laughably low skill multiplier, especially on her S2, which is supposed to be her finisher, has half the scaling of Baiken’s combo finisher. This is somewhat mitigated by the +45% damage upon skillups, but adds to the strain on player’s molagora supply.
Requires a Team to be Built Around Her
Since we’ve discussed Elphelt’s lack of damage to be subpar for a single target DPS, she is best utilized for her ability to grant crit chance and AoE defense break. This means that a team must be assembled around her to fully take advantage of those strengths: building 50% crit to maximize other stats and have AoE buff dispel for Elphelt’s defense break.
