Assets
-
+ATK: Faye’s overall best Asset is Attack. With her underwhelming Attack stat of 30, Faye will greatly appreciate any boost in offensive power that she can get her hands on to help her with securing KOs
Neutral
-
RES: Faye’s Resistance is her overall most important defensive stat. At a good base value of 31, Faye can perform strong when retaliating against enemy mage. While not as beneficial is Attack, Resistance can make for a good secondary choice of Asset if an Attack asset is unavailable.
-
HP: Faye has really good HP, particularly for an archer. This improves her ability to sustain damage from both physical and magic foes alike. As such, keeping it neutral is her best option.
-
DEF: While Defense will likely be Faye’s least utilized defensive stat overall, it will still come in useful for fighting other archers and dagger foes. Given it is a superflaw, keeping Defense neutral is recommended.
Flaws
- -SPD: Overall, Speed is Faye’s least important stat. At a base value of 25, she will already have a lot of enemies perform follow-up attacks against her. As such, this is the recommended Flaw.

Preferred IV: +ATK / -SPD
An Attack Asset with a Speed Flaw is Faye’s best option in order to maximize her offensive power and to maintain her good defensive capabilities. Having an Asset in Resistance is also a good choice.
Weapon: Bow of Devotion (+Eff)
-
At base, Bow of Devotions grants Faye with a boost to all of her stats except HP whenever she is attacked by a ranged foe.
-
The special refine for Bow of Devotion gives Faye a guaranteed follow-up attack whenever she is attacked while above 50% HP.
-
Both aspects of this bow greatly improve Faye’s performance as a ranged tank.
Assist: Draw Back / Player Preference
Special: Iceberg / Moonbow
-
When attacked at range with no buffs or debuffs, Faye will reach 47 or 49 Resistance (depending on if Distant Def 4 or 3 is used), giving Iceberg a huge amount of power.
-
Moonbow’s low cooldown can be an advantage in certain scenarios. One such scenario is against Brave weapon users or against the occasional enemy that doesn’t perform a follow-up attack against her.
Passive A: Distant Def (4 or 3)
-
Distant Def is the perfect skill for this build, giving Faye a substantial defensive boost whenever attacked by a ranged foe.
-
Distant Def 4 grants a slightly higher defensive boost than Distant Def 3 while also negating the buffs granted by skills such as Hone and Fortify on ranged units.
-
While Distant Def 4 is undeniably superior to Distant Def 3, it is not necessary in order for this build to perform well.
Passive B: Null C-Disrupt / Special Spiral / Renewal / Cancel Affinity
-
Null C-Disrupt will be a fantastic skill for this build, allowing Faye to counterattack against foes running skills such as Firesweep Bow, Dazzling Staff, and Windsweep.
-
Special Spiral is another strong choice. After activating her special in combat, Special Spiral will place her Iceberg down to one cooldown, allowing her to always utilize it on her first counterattack with some exceptions such as if the enemy uses Witchy Wand to reset cooldown.
-
Renewal is a good budget option, allowing Faye to heal herself every other turn which helps her to sustain more damage and remain above 50% HP.
-
Cancel Affinity can be useful if Faye is expected to be fighting foes using Raven tome and Triangle Adept, but other B slots may come into use more often.
Passive C: Atk Smoke / Panic Ploy / Player Preference
-
Atk Smoke is a strong C slot choice. Whenever a foe attacks Faye, any other enemies nearby will be hit with a large Attack debuff, thus helping Faye to tank better.
-
Panic Ploy can be another effective option thanks to Faye’s good HP. While Faye with Distant Def 4 can negate buffs anyway, Panic Ploy can still be useful as it’ll actively turn any buffs to debuffs on anyone affected.
Sacred Seal: Distant Def / Fierce Stance
-
Distant Def is the natural Sacred Seal choice, further increasing Faye’s defensive capabilities against ranged opponents.
-
Fierce Stance is another great option, giving Faye a useful Attack boost whenever attacked.

C | Atk Smoke 3 Alternate: Panic Ploy 3 |
SP | 2095 | S | Close Def 3 Alternate: Brazen Atk/Def 3 |
Preferred IV: +ATK or +DEF / -SPD
Again, Faye would ideally want an Attack Asset with a Speed Flaw. However, both Defense and Resistance can make for great Asset choices here, Defense in particular which becomes a much more important stat when used with Close Counter.
Weapon: Bow of Devotion (+Eff)
-
While the stat bonuses provided by Bow of Devotion still only activate against ranged foes, Faye will still enjoy the guaranteed follow-up attack whenever attacked while above 50% HP against any melee range foes.
Assist: Draw Back / Player Preference
Special: Iceberg / Moonbow
-
Despite this build not reaching the levels of Resistance obtained with the other set, Faye’s Resistance will still be good and Iceberg will remain a strong special choice.
-
Moonbow is also a viable option thanks to its low cooldown, making it good in certain scenarios such as against brave weapon users and foes which do not perform a follow-up attack against Faye.
Passive A: Close Counter
-
Close Counter is the cornerstone of this build, allowing Faye to retaliate against any melee range foes that attack her.
Passive B: Special Spiral / Renewal / Guard
-
Special Spiral will grant Faye with two Special charge after any round of combat where her Special activates. This means that once Iceberg has activated once, it will always activate on Faye’s first counterattack in any future combat with a couple exceptions.
-
Renewal is a strong budget option, helping Faye through self-healing every other turn which helps her to be sustainable through multiple rounds of combat.
-
Guard is also a good choice, helping Faye to keep safe from enemy Special attacks.
Passive C: Atk Smoke / Panic Ploy / Player Preference
-
Atk Smoke will be great for tanking multiple enemies at once as she will debuff the Attack of any enemies around any foe she fights.
-
Panic Ploy can also be a good choice in order to turn the buffs of any affected enemy into debuffs, benefitting not only herself but any ally against affected foes.
Sacred Seal: Close Def / Brazen Atk/Def
-
Close Def is a great Sacred Seal for improving Faye’s defensive capabilities against any melee range foes.
-
Brazen Atk/Def can also be a strong option, giving Faye a strong boost to Attack and Defense whenever under 80% HP.
Introduction
Despite not being able to use a bow in her original game, Faye yet chooses to fight with one in Fire Emblem Heroes. Regardless, Faye is a quite unique individual within the bow infantry category. Unlike the majority of other units which favor an offensive playstyle using a weapon such as Firesweep Bow or any personal weapon they may have, Faye instead tailors to a more defensive approach.
Faye’s raw offensive stats leave a lot to be desired. With below average Attack and poor Speed, Faye underperforms majorly in an offensive role compared to many other archers. Fayes makes up for this with good HP, good Resistance, and decent Defense which makes her stronger than most archers when taking hits. On top of this, she also has her own personal weapon which further bolsters her enemy phase capabilities substantially.
She may not perform well in the typical role one might expect an archer to fulfill, but when it comes to being a ranged tank, Faye is an exceptional choice. Thought ranged tank is an overall niche role that won’t be always useful, but there will be times when such a unit will be beneficial. Whenever those times come around, Faye will be a strong and reliable option.
Strengths
Great Defensive Stats
Coming with a base 42 HP, 26 Defense, and 31 Resistance, Faye can become difficult to take down. Coupled with Bow of Devotion and skills such as Distant Def, Faye’s defensive capabilities against ranged foes in particular can be pushed extremely high.
Bow of Devotion
Bow of Devotion is Faye’s personal weapon added in the 3.5.0. Update. Before refined, Bow of Devotion grants her with a boost to all stats except HP whenever attacked by a ranged foe. This alone is a strong effect that only serves to increase Faye’s capabilities as a ranged tank.
Bow of Devotion can be refined for the typical array of stat bonuses available, but also has a unique refine available which grants her a guaranteed follow-up attack whenever attacked while at 50% HP or above. This means Faye can completely forgo using Quick Riposte and therefore free up her B slot or Sacred Seal slot depending on where she used Quick Riposte before.
Weaknesses
Below Average Attack
One of Faye’s major weaknesses is her Attack stat. While 30 Attack is not necessarily bad, it does undeniably hurt her damage output. Her personal weapon does help to offset this weakness somewhat, but it is still present.
Poor Speed
At 25 Speed, Faye is prone to taking follow-up attacks from the majority of people that will be attacking her. This does overall hinder her tanking capabilities since she’ll be taking double the damage she otherwise would be if she could avoid a follow-up from the enemy.

A low-budget(?) Anti-BLyn; preferable IVs would be +ATK -SPD.
Bow of Devotion works with or w/o the refine, but preferably with the refine is better. With the ATK/SPD/DEF/RES+4 against ranged units, she'll become tankier this way.
The assist is flexible, but I use Draw Back.
Iceberg uses her high Res to deal extra damage.
She has enough HP to use Fury 3, which helps boost her stats by +3. Combined with her bow's effect, against ranged would have +7 (much like having all the Blow skills during combat at Level 3).
Bowbreaker fixes her speed issue against BLyn.
C Slot is also flexible but I use Spur Def so she can support and still fit her combat role.
The Seal can be anything that adds to her stats. I only have enough to afford Attack+3 but HP/Atk+3 would be just as equally fitting, if not better. Alternatively, Quickened Pulse is also suitable.

In a summary, Faye will be able to survive most; if not all attacks with ease and will be able counterattack regardless of how close or far the enemy is and will most likely make a follow up attack after her first attack. Your hero will also be able to do excellent amount of damage considering how low her base stats are. Your Hero will also perform better when she has taken some damage.

With the release of her new weapon, Faye shows just how her devotion turns her into one of the best ranged tanks in FEH.
Her weapon gives Faye a boost to all her stats when attacked by a ranged foe as well as giving her Quick Riposte when refined. This frees her B slot to boost her uniqueness as a ranged tank.
To boost her defenses at range, Distant Defense 3/4 is chosen as with the boost, Faye's Def and Res is pushed up to 36 Def and 41 Res with Distant Def 3 and is pushed up further to 38 Def and 43 Res with Distant Def 4.
With her weapon freeing her B slot from Quick Riposte, the next best skill is Guard. As a tank, Faye has to keep her HP as high as possible which can be a problem when her foes are building up their specials by fighting her. Therefore, denying her foes from activating their specials with Guard keeps Faye as healthy as possible.
Sporting 31 Res, Faye can make use of ploy skills to help her out in combat. Atk Ploy is the best ploy to go for as it allows Faye to take less damage during combat.
For her seals, Faye can either run Def Ploy seal or the Fierce Stance seal. While both seals account to making Faye's damage output go higher, they do have differences in the situations they are in. Def Ploy debuffs her foes Def by 7 which means Faye and her allies will deal +7 damage per attack to the debuffed enemy. However, this requires the enemy to be in the same row/column Faye is on when the turn starts meaning without proper positioning, the ploy is not going to activate, which is where Fierce Stance comes in. While Faye can only deal +6 damage per attack on retaliation, Fierce Stance has easier requirements to proc than Def Ploy but sacrifices the ability to help out the team.
Faye has 2 specials she can effectively make use of, Iceberg and Sol. Since her refined weapon gives Quick Riposte, any 3-turn special can be easily proc in 1 combat. With 43 Res using this set, Iceberg allows Faye to deal an additional 21 damage when proc. On the other hand, Sol allows Faye to heal of the damage she received during combat, allowing her to keep up her abilities as a tank.

My latest and greatest Faye build in my opinion. Not only it can stop specials from activating but now Faye has Fort Def/Res to have more bulk for all phases and all damage types. A +Def Boon allows her bulk to be perfectly mixed, Devilish Bow can be swapped for Guard Bow if you do not have it. Here are your alternatives if you don't have heavy investments:
Boon: +Atk / +Def / +Res
Banes: -HP / -Spd
Weapons: Guard Bow / Devilish Bow
Refines: +Def / +Res
Specials: Bonfire / Iceberg
A Skill: Fort. Def/Res 3 / Distant Def 4 / Distant Def 3
B Skill: Quick Riposte / Null-C Disrupt 3 / Guard 3 / Dull Ranged 3
C Skill: Atk Smoke 3 / Odd or Even Res Wave / Atk Ploy 3 / Def Ploy 3
S Skill: Distant Def 3 / Quick Riposte 3 / Atk Ploy 3

I saved up a bunch of orbs when I heard there would be a Nohr banner thinking OG Charlotte would be on it. She wasn’t, and I spent them all on another banner in protest. I got Faye, and I vowed to make her incredible so even if I didn’t have Charlotte, I’d have something good.
So uh. DD9. Bonfire. Death and destruction. Probably would be better off with Def Smoke but not sure I’m willing to fodder my only Bunfonse yet.
