Standard Basar
PvP
The most effective build for Basar is speed focus with an immunity sub set. Immunity from gears or an ally’s ability is required to protect Basar from potential debuffs. Speed investment allows Basar to use his S3 asap. An AOE DEF breaker can follow up with a defense break for maximum damage potential. Cleavers can be run with a Rage set and mages can be paired with Kal’Adra to further enhance their DPS potential. This is one of the most powerful cleave set-ups in offense arena meta.

Team

Basar has incredible synergy with Tywin. After his buff removal, the enemy will be left defenseless against Tywin’s AOE defense break. Tywin can soul burn for an extra turn and grant ATK, CRIT%, and CR boost for a follow up cleave. Additionally, Basar’s unable to buff status infliction will grant damage bonus for rage set users and Kaladra holders. A fast Vivan is here for her Immunity buff and Tagahel slot. Vivian can be subbed with any mage as long as your team is protected with an immunity set. Any cleavers can subbed for Blood Blade Karin. Blood Blade Karin is mainly chosen to deal with AVildred.

Analysis
Overview
Basar has a huge presence in the current offensive cleave meta. Equipped with a buff removal on his S3 which cannot be resisted, Basar is currently the most optimal counter for immunity sets and effect-resist builds. When paired alongside Tywin’s S3 AOE DEF break, this skill sets the stage for a devastating cleave.
Strengths
Powerful S3
Arguably one of the strongest skills in the game. Basar’s S3 has the ability to remove all buffs from all enemies, reducing their combat readiness by 30%, and preventing them from buffing. When soul burned, Basar has the ability to ignore the enemies effect resistance. This skill alone makes Basar a true force to be reckoned with.
Incredible Synergy
With the ability to cripple all enemies with a single skill, Basar has incredible synergy with many characters in the game. One of the most common pairing with Basar is Tywin. With no debuff immunity safeguard, he can ensure that Tywin’s AOE DEF break has a chance to apply.
Minimal Investment
Basar’s main role is to remove the enemy’s buffs. With his soul-burn ability to ignore effectiveness with his S3, he can bypass building effectiveness for offense. Basar can also be just as effective at level 50 as he is at level 60.
A Crippling S2
If the enemy somehow survives the initial cleave, Basar also has an AOE that can further cripple the enemy. Basar’s S2 has a 60% (75% maxed mola) chance to inflict decrease attack and blind for 2 turns.
Usable on Offense and Defense
With a respectable speed of 112, Basar can be also be used on defense to disrupt and cripple the enemy team’s synergy. However, a defensive Basar will be required to have high effectiveness since he will not be able to soul burn on defense.
Weaknesses
Element
With the recent release of Lilias, Basar comps will find it difficult to cripple teams with Lilias guarding them. Lilias is a fire knight with an ability to cleanse all debuffs from allies and reduce their combat readiness by 30%. Her element alone allows her 50% evasion against Basar. Her S3 allows her to reset all debuffs inflicted on her team and potentially breaks Basar’s setup. Ken, Kayron, Lilias and every other fire element hero will have 50% chance to evade basar’s skills.
20 Souls Required
In order for Basar to soul burn his S3, 20 souls are required. This can be achieved with two +0 Tagahel’s Ancient Book, or one +30 Tagahel Ancient Book. For a double soulburn Tywin-Basar set up, two +30 Tagahel’s books will be required. This may be fairly difficult to achieve for new players.
Underwhelming after S3
Basar only has one role, that role is to remove immunity, lower CR, and prevent buffs from all enemy in order to set up for his teammates. Once Basar accomplishes that task, he’ll be very underwhelming for the rest of the fight. With minimal gear investment he can be very fragile. He will often be one-shotted by ML Ken after using his S3.
