Analysis

Overview

A visitor from another dimension! Martial Artist Ken has come to challenge his greatest foe. This Dark Warrior brings an extremely versatile skillset to any team, allowing for a very reliable Hero investment. The Coming of Asura (S3) offers an AoE Defense Break, while Knockout (S1) weakens the foe. If you happen to pull this extremely rare Hero, prepare to take on the world kicking and punching.

Strengths

Versatile

One of the main benefits of using Martial Artist Ken is that he is a very flexible Hero, usable throughout all aspects of gameplay. While he does have weaknesses, he always poses a threat to teams caught off guard.

AoE Defense Break

Having up to a 4 turn cooldown The Coming of Asura (S3) provides an AoE 2 turn defense break and attack up. The benefit of this is that, being a Dark Hero, ML Ken’s  Defense break will be more reliable than most other Defense Breaks.

Built in counter attack

Dragon Flame (S2) has a built-in 30% counterattack chance, so it’s effectively a free set effect bonus. This becomes even more potent when he suffers a critical hit, because the chance increases to 100% causing a critical hit based on his lost health.

Weaknesses

Weak to Stuns

While Stunned or Slept Martial Artist Ken will not be able to take advantage of Dragon Flame’s (S2) passive skills, this causes a critical weakness in one of his biggest assets, due to this having high effect resistance will be beneficial to him.

Can’t control counter attack

Another downside to Dragon Flame (S2) is that in PvE environments, if hit, his passive might trigger. Sometimes there are enemies you don’t want to hit during certain phases and his consistent counter attacks can be a detriment to your timing.

The key to having a strong Martial Artist Ken is building him as tanky as possible while still supporting his sustain and damage. In PvP having ways to prevent him from succumbing to being 1 shot, Stunned, or Slept will typically lead to positive results. Thankfully his versatility allows his PvE and PvP builds to be very flexible.

Team 1: PvP

Typically Martial Artist Ken works best in team compositions where there are other Heroes who the enemy team will not want to attack or heroes who can support his survival. His strongest counters are Stun and Sleep so utilizing some form of Cleanse or Immunity can be very critical in his success or failure. Having high affect resistance can also help to prevent this.

Secondary

Team 2: PvE

In most PvE situations Ken will be used in the leader slot in order to take a bulk of the team’s damage. The team compositions that he can fit into are versatile but in general you will want one healer with Cleanse or Immunity, a high single target dps, and another supportive Hero.
