Builds
- Single-Target-General
Night Terrors
General
The goal of this build is to be able to utilize Specter Tenebria’s synergy with debuffer heroes in order to maximize damage. A build like this can easily function in PvP as well as PvE.
Gear
Because of the stacking Attack buff Specter Tenebria can give herself (in addition to any Attack buffs your team might be able to add to her, i.e., from Rose or Vivian), Specter Tenebria typically wants to build a lot of Atk%. She's one of the rare heroes who wants Atk% on her boots rather than Speed, and she's also one of the rare DPS heroes who benefits from prioritizing Attack over Crit Chance or Crit Damage.
That isn't to say she should ignore critical hits, though. Critting on her S3 really pushes her damage over the edge into complete lunacy. Consider Crit Chance on her necklace and Crit Damage on her substats -- as much as she can get. Effectiveness is obviously another important stat, since she wants debuffs on her enemy before she S3s them.
Considering the way her damage increases with debuffs already, a Rage set is the obvious choice for Specter Tenebria. Pair it with a Critical set and get your evil cackle ready for when she destroys your enemy's hopes and dreams with a 30% boosted S3.
Artifacts
Double down on Specter Tenebria's single-target nuker status with the usual Mage nuking Artifacts: Portrait of the Saviors or Kal'adra. In very specific circumstances, Time Matter can also work on her, as it lowers the cooldown of her S3 every time she kills with it and makes her next S1 stronger, but Kal'adra is probably going to be a bigger damage boost in most circumstances.
Failing one of these options, Exorcist's Tonfa is a good way to increase the one-shot potential of her S3. As a Mage, she's also a viable choice for holding Tagehel's Ancient Book, especially when facing Arbiter Vildred.
Equipment

Artifact
Team

The goal of this team is to apply debuffs to the enemy in order to set up for Specter Tenebria’s S3, buffed with the Rage Set and Kal’adra. Normally any opponent you come against will not survive when supported by Heroes that fulfill these roles:
- Buff dispeller. Hurado is a good choice because he lowers enemy CR when he dispels. Basar, Alencia, or Faithless Lidica may also suffice.
- Debuffer. Silver Blade Aramintha is one of the best for this job, but a strong Stunner like Leo can also work, as can other debuffers like Champion Zerato, Bellona, or Surin.
Challenger Dominiel is perfect for the last slot in this team. She CR-pushes the team, buffs Specter Tenebria's Crit Chance, and carries Tagehel's so Specter Tenebria doesn't have to. If you are using Challenger Dominel, then Specter Tenebria can utilize either an Att% or Crit Damage necklace instead of Crit Chance, as long as she is near 50% Crit Chance from the rest of her gear.
(Another good Crit buffer for this last slot is Dingo. He lacks Challenger Dominiel's CR-push and Tagehel's, but he can lower Specter Tenebria's cooldown on her S3 and apply extra debuffs so her S3 hurts even more.)

Analysis
Overview
One of the Acolytes of the Archdemon, Specter Tenebria is a Dark Mage who eludes her opponent's attacks and inflicts hilarious amounts of damage in return. Typically she works best on teams who can provide debuffs to allow Endless Nightmare (S3) to deal even more damage than it already does. Her built-in Stealth can cause her to be a lingering threat, unlike most other Mages in this game, while her scaling power provides endless opportunity for destruction.
Strengths
Look but don't touch
One of the more unique abilities in Epic Seven is Specter Tenebria's S2 passive, Nightmare Illusion. This passive makes Specter Tenebria untargetable as long as there is an ally capable of being attacked remaining. This allows her to use her "friends" as meatshields while she charges up her devastating assault.
With Death Comes Power
Specter Tenebria's S2 passive also triggers a unique stacking buff that gives Specter Tenebria Atk% and Def% every time an enemy dies. She gains 10% per stack, and the passive can stack up to 5 times, for a grand total of +50% potential increased Attack and Defense.
Nuking Single Targets
Specter Tenebria exists to nuke single targets with her S3, Endless Nightmare. This atomic bomb of an S3 has a high damage multiplier by default, but that damage increases even further for each debuff her target is inflicted with. Pair this with the stacking Atk% buff from her passive and the ability to cause stacks of Poison with her S1 and it quickly becomes obvious why Specter Tenebria is such a DPS terror.
Terrifying Soulburn Combo
To maximize the damage of her S3, Specter Tenebria needs to put at least one debuff on her target (and preferably a lot more). Her S1 can cause Poison, but you don't always have time to use her S1 and then wait for next turn. Fortunately, Soulburning her S1 gives her an extra turn, allowing her to Poison her target and then vaporize them. (This also makes her a good counter for the notorious Arbiter Vildred, as she can kill him with her S1 so he revives, then use her extra turn to finish off his second life.)
Weaknesses
Weak to AOE
Because her passive only prevents her from being targeted, not from taking damage, Specter Tenebria is very susceptible to enemy AOE skills and abilities. This can be compensated by other heroes on her team such as Otillie, Elena, or Seaside Bellona, but it means that she's not safe in battles with lots of AOE, such as Golem 11 or when facing a cleave team in PvP.
Damage Fluctuates A Lot
Between the debuff scaling on her S3 and the way her S2 passive stacks, Specter Tenebria's damage output can vary greatly depending on the enemy she is fighting. One battle, she might do tens of thousands of damage to Secretary Vera; on another run, that crucial S3 might only do a few thousand damage instead.
