Assets
- +ATK: Ced’s base Attack sits at a respectable base 35, but an Attack Asset gives a helpful boost. As Ced has plenty of sources of Speed, an Attack Asset should be prioritised over a Speed Asset.
- +SPD: Ced boasts an incredibly high Speed stat, but a Speed Asset remains a strong choice as the rest of Ced’s stats are less important. +SPD improves Ced’s ability to deal follow-up attacks against the fastest heroes.
Neutral
- HP: Ced’s HP is rather unimportant, but lowering it further will harm Ced’s survivability against both physical and magical attackers.
- RES: Ced’s Resistance is worth preserving when possible: his base value of 31 allows Ced to withstand a magical attack, allowing him to set up Desperation or Brazen Atk/Spd.
Flaws
- -DEF: Ced’s Defense is beyond saving, so this is his preferred Flaw. Regardless of whether Defense is reduced or not, Ced should aim to avoid all physical attacks.
Skill Sets
Crusader’s Gale (Desperation Offensive)
Winds of Silesse | A | Atk/Spd Solo 3 Alternate: Spd/Res Solo 3 |
|
---|---|---|---|
Reposition | B | Desperation 3 | |
Glimmer Alternate: Luna |
C | Time's Pulse 3 Alternate: Pulse Smoke 3 |
|
IVs | S | Brazen Atk/Spd 3 Alternate: Flashing Blade 3 |
Preferred IV: +ATK or +SPD / -DEF
- +ATK or +SPD improves Ced’s impressive offensive capability: these Assets raise the likelihood of Ced defeating his opponent in a single round of combat. -DEF is a suitable choice of Flaw due to his poor base value, but any defensive Flaw is adequate.
Weapon: Winds of Silesse
- If the adjacency condition is met, Winds of Silesse offers a powerful +6 boost to Attack and Speed in addition to the passive +3 boost to Speed. This tome makes Ced a strong offensive mage, capable of making follow-up attacks against fast enemy heroes and dealing heavy magic damage.
Assist: Reposition / Flexible
- Ced’s Assist skill should be determined by the needs of his team, but any skill that offers maneuverability such as Reposition is a fine choice.
Special: Glimmer / Luna / Moonbow
- Glimmer complements Ced’s attack boosting skills considerably, allowing him to deal considerable damage to any enemy hero without a high Resistance stat.
- Luna and Moonbow are decent alternatives that allow Ced to punch a hole through more defensive heroes, but Moonbow generally does less damage and Luna has a longer cooldown.
Passive A: Atk/Spd Solo / Spd/Res Solo / Brazen Atk/Spd / Swift Sparrow
- Atk/Spd Solo is the natural choice for Ced: as this skill exists in Ced’s weapon, taking Atk/Spd Solo in the A slot offers +12 to Attack and Speed with only one condition. Other Solo skills are passable, but Atk/Spd Solo augments Ced’s two most crucial stats.
- Ced wields Spd/Res Solo in his base kit, which is a passable alternative to Atk/Spd Solo. While Ced benefits from the bonus attack massively, Spd/Res Solo still complements his PRF tome well.
- Brazen Atk/Spd offers a greater bonus than Atk/Spd Solo, but Ced cannot take advantage of this until he reaches the necessary HP threshold. This trade-off is worthwhile if Ced runs the necessary Assist skill, such as Ardent Sacrifice.
- Swift Sparrow is a fair choice for Ced, offering a boost to Attack and Speed when Ced initiates combat. However, this is less useful than Atk/Spd Solo: while Swift Sparrow 3 grants slightly more Speed, it’s more valuable to maintain this stat boost on Enemy Phase.
Passive B: Desperation
- With 42 base Speed after accounting for the passive +3 from Winds of Silesse and a further +12 from Atk/Spd Solo, Ced can reach an immense level of Speed. This makes Desperation a great choice to ensure that he cannot sustain any retaliation from enemy heroes.
Passive C: Time’s Pulse / Pulse Smoke / Even Atk Wave
- Time’s Pulse synergises nicely with Glimmer, allowing Ced to cycle his Special skill in every round of combat. Time’s Pulse ensures that Ced can make activate his Special with the consecutive attacks from Desperation, then reduce his Special cooldown at the start of the following turn.
- Pulse Smoke is a more defensive option, but as the skill exists in Ced’s base kit it remains a strong option. Pulse Smoke is particularly useful on gamemodes where enemy heroes are grouped up, such as Aether Raids.
- Even Atk Wave is a more budget option for an offensive skill, allowing Ced to buff his own Attack without complicating his adjacency requirement.
Sacred Seal: Brazen Atk/Spd / Flashing Blade / Swift Sparrow
- Brazen Atk/Spd synergises with Desperation well and offers Ced a large boost to his Attack and Speed. Though Ced’s low Defense can make it difficult to reach the necessary HP threshold, his high Resistance makes this more achievable.
- Flashing Blade is worth considering if Time’s Pulse is unavailable, or if Luna is taken over Glimmer. Flashing Blade ensures that Ced can charge his Special more quickly and activate it within a single round of combat.
- Swift Sparrow is another offensive choice, but it remains inferior to Brazen Atk/Spd.
Hero of the Magi (Special Spiral Offensive)
Winds of Silesse | A | Atk/Spd Solo 3 Alternate: Spd/Res Solo 3 |
|
---|---|---|---|
Reposition | B | Special Spiral 3 | |
Glimmer Alternate: Moonbow |
C | Pulse Smoke 3 Alternate: Even Atk Wave 3 |
|
IVs | S | Swift Sparrow 2 Alternate: Brazen Atk/Spd 3 |
Special: Glimmer / Moonbow
- Glimmer complements Ced’s attack boosting skills considerably, and with a 2-attack cooldown, serves as the perfect Special skill to synergise with Special Spiral. Glimmer allows Ced to deal immense damage when initiating combat, allowing him to KO a variety of threats.
- Moonbow is an alternative to Glimmer that remains compatible with Special Spiral. Though Moonbow generally offers less damage than Glimmer, it can be valuable in defeating opponents with high Resistance.
Passive A: Atk/Spd Solo / Spd/Res Solo / Swift Sparrow
- Atk/Spd Solo is the natural choice for Ced: as this skill exists in Ced’s weapon, taking Atk/Spd Solo in the A slot offers +12 to Attack and Speed with only one condition. Other Solo skills are passable, but Atk/Spd Solo augments Ced’s two most crucial stats.
- Ced wields Spd/Res Solo in his base kit, which is a passable alternative to Atk/Spd Solo. While Ced benefits from the bonus attack massively, Spd/Res Solo still complements his PRF tome well.
Passive B: Special Spiral
- Special Spiral gives Ced a powerful rotation of burst damage, where he cycles Glimmer at the start of every enemy engagement. This allows him to tear through enemy heroes, provided they cannot survive the first attack and KO Ced with a retaliation.
Passive C: Pulse Smoke / Even Atk Wave
- Even Atk Wave allows Ced to buff his own Attack without complicating his adjacency requirement, making it a valuable choice for a C slot skill. Odd Atk Wave is also acceptable, as either skill improves his OHKO potential.
- Pulse Smoke is a more defensive option, but as the skill exists in Ced’s base kit it remains a strong option. Pulse Smoke is particularly useful on gamemodes where enemy heroes are grouped up, such as Aether Raids.
Sacred Seal: Swift Sparrow / Brazen Atk/Spd
- Swift Sparrow is a strong offensive seal that boosts Ced’s Attack and Speed. While the bonuses offered from this seal are less than Brazen Atk/Spd, the lack of HP requirement makes it more useful.
- Brazen Atk/Spd offers Ced a large boost to his Attack and Speed, though this is dependent on an 80% HP threshold. Though Ced’s low Defense can make it difficult to reach the necessary HP threshold, his high Resistance makes this more achievable.
Strengths
Fantastic Offensive Stats
35 base Attack is respectable, but Ced’s real defining trait is his incredible base Speed. An Asset puts Ced at 42 base Speed, or 45 after accounting for the Winds of Silesse, paying homage to his title of fastest man in Jugdral. These offensive stats make Ced a competent mage.
Winds of Silesse
The Winds of Silesse tome is a powerful offensive weapon, granting a +6 to Attack and Speed as well as an additional +3 boost to Speed. The Winds of Silesse allows Ced to make follow-up attacks with ease and deal impressive magical damage.
Decent Resistance
Ced doesn’t have the best defensive stats, but his 31 base Resistance is useful for sustaining magical damage and setting up his HP for skills like Desperation and Brazen Atk/Spd.
Weaknesses
Adjacency Limitations of PRF Tome
Ced’s PRF tome, while strong, does have some frustrating limitations. Ced cannot benefit from Spur skills or other buffs that require Ced to be adjacent to an ally. Other skills like Atk/Spd Oath are also more difficult to take advantage of.
Poor Defense
Ced’s base Defense is very poor: 19 Defense alongside his 37 HP makes Ced incredibly vulnerable to physical attackers. He should avoid these opponents at all costs.
