"You could be the queen of our store!" -- Enticed by such a suggestion, Chloe began working in a maid café, but with no idea what kind of work a maid is expected to do, she lacks a certain care for her customers.

Builds

Zombie Defense

This build turns Maid Chloe into a very tanky and annoying defender to deal with in PvP. It also makes her a good complement for some cleave teams as an opener, since she can ensure that heavy damage-dealers will live to pull off their attacks.

Gear

Going first is the most important thing for Maid Chloe, so Speed is her most important stat. Pile all the Speed onto her you can find; she'll need every last scrap of it, both on her boots and on the substats for all her gear.

Second priority for Maid Chloe is survival. After she uses her S3 at the start of the fight, she's only pulling off another VIP Treatment if she survives long enough to run down the 5-turn cooldown. In most PvP fights, this will never happen, but for those rare occasions when you get into a long, drawn-out, knockdown fight with another team, she's going to need some durability. HP% is the more important, since Maid Chloe's max HP determines the strength of her passive S2 healing, but Def% helps as well.

A distant third priority is Effectiveness or Effect Resistance. More Effectiveness means a better chance of Stunning with her S1, making her even harder for enemies to handle. Effect Resistance adds some extra protection from ailments and dispels, but Maid Chloe usually needs an Immunity set to make sure she can S3 on the first turn and her other turns usually don't matter so much, so you might prefer the extra Stuns from Effectiveness instead.

Artifacts

Maid Chloe is typically run with either Water's Origin (to protect her from big nukes like Luna or Violet) or Wondrous Potion Vial (to protect her from being disabled by single-target CC). Since Maid Chloe wants to build herself very tanky and is inevitably going to be focused by enemies, Idol's Cheer or Stella Harpa can also see some use.

Team

Core

Maid Chloe has strong synergy with most Knights and other Soul Weavers. The sturdy defenses of tanks like Eaton, Krau, or Fallen Cecilia are even harder to break through with Maid Chloe's revival buff waiting in the wings. Other healers are also valuable for recovering allies after revival. Even better, pair Maid Chloe with fellow resurrection user Ruele of Light, who can spot her a revive when VIP Treatment is on cooldown or even bring Maid Chloe herself back if she gets spiked down.

However, don't neglect your offense either. Maid Chloe is at her best when she's enabling one or two strong DPS heroes to throw caution to the winds and attack with everything they've got. Blood Blade Karin and Krau are two heroes who can reach incredible DPS when reduced to low health, but being at low health is a risky move. Maid Chloe basically negates that risk.

Life Insurance

On several floors of the Abyss and the Automaton Tower, enemies can pull off cheap tricks that can result in random K.O.s, sometimes before you can even do anything to stop them. Maid Chloe can counter a lot of these tricks as long as she's sturdy enough not to be the one K.O.ed, and the fact that she's also a source of an Atk buff is icing on the cake.

Gear

The gear for this build is basically identical to the gear Maid Chloe wants for PvP. The only real difference is that she no longer needs an Immunity set, which frees her up to build a Health set for additional durability and healing. (Because of that and the fact that Stun doesn't work on bosses, you might also prefer Effect Resistance on her instead of Effectiveness.)

Artifacts

If you're going to run Maid Chloe as your only Soul Weaver in PvE, she can better sustain her team by equipping Celestine, adding a heal to each use of her S1, including through Dual Attacks. Over the course of a long fight, her healing with Celestine is not inconsequential. However, she still usually struggles to keep the entire team topped off. (Heroes with innate Lifesteal like Mistychain or who are equipped with Lifesteal sets can help with this too.)

On the other hand, if you're bringing a second Soul Weaver, Maid Chloe probably doesn't need to heal directly. She might serve her team better with Shimadra Staff (increasing the entire team's healing) or by pretending to be a tank with Water's Origin.

Team

Core

This is a perfect example of a PvE team that makes good use of Maid Chloe as a safety net. Karin and Celestial Mercedes are very powerful heroes, but they are at risk of dying if somebody sneezes on them too hard. Maid Chloe's VIP Treatment is exactly what these heroes need to shine.

Keep in mind this is just an example of a good PvE setup for Maid Chloe. You can replace Destina with another Soul Weaver or Knight if you prefer, and Karin/ Celestial Mercedes can be swapped for whatever DPS would be most useful for the specific PvE fights you're going up against.

Analysis

Overview

Maid Chloe is a one-of-a-kind Soul Weaver, being the treasured carrier of Epic Seven’s only teamwide Revive buff. Did the enemy Arbiter Vildred just unleash a maximum-Focus Dark Blade? Did you mess up the timing on Wyvern 11 and trigger its party-wiping breath? Maid Chloe's Revive buff resurrects your entire team after death, guaranteeing a comeback from certain death in a way no other hero can.

If that wasn't enough, Maid Chloe combines her potent Revive with a teamwide ATK buff on a relatively short cooldown, making her a hero who clinches both the support and offense role. With the correct partners, Maid Chloe can be a frustrating defensive failsafe or a potent offensive enabler.

Strengths

Perfect Defensive Opener

Maid Chloe's S3, VIP Treatment, is one of the best defensive options in Epic Seven. The Revive buff guarantees survival against any amount of damage one attack can deal, no matter how great. Furthermore, VIP Treatment is also an AOE Atk buff, which is one of the most essential offensive buffs for a team to have. This makes VIP Treatment the ideal opening move for any fight, granting life insurance to the entire team while also enabling them to strike at full offensive power immediately.

High HP/ Speed (for a Soul Weaver)

Maid Chloe is tied for third-fastest Soul Weaver, and has the sixth-highest HP for the role. She is fast enough to use her S3 quickly in a battle, yet tanky enough to survive some damage.

Spammable Stun

Any time Maid Chloe isn't treating her allies to VIP buffs, she's whacking enemies with her hammer, potentially Stunning them and wasting their turns. The affliction rate of her Stun is not very high, but when the enemy already has to kill your entire party twice, any turns they lose puts them even further behind in the damage race.

Passive Healing

In addition to her relatively high base Health, Maid Chloe heals herself and her most injured ally every turn with her S2. The real beauty of her S2 is that it passively triggers on each of her turns, regardless of her actions, providing slow but consistent healing to the allies who need it the most.

Anti-Cleave Potential

Between her relatively high base Spd, her 3-turn Revive buff, and her spammable Stun, Maid Chloe can singlehandedly stop an enemy cleave team in its tracks.

Weaknesses

One-Hit Wonder

Almost all of Maid Chloe's value is tied into her S3, a skill with a very long cooldown (6 turns by default, 5 turns after Skill Enhancement). Luckily, the two buffs caused by her S3 have a lengthy 3-turn duration, and the instant resurrection granted by the skill is so powerful that it largely makes up for this. However, when her S3 is on cooldown and her buffs have worn off, Maid Chloe is little more than a low-accuracy Stun and a weak passive heal until she's ready to give the VIP Treatment again.

Many Direct Counters

If you're perceptive, the above weakness is probably sending shivers down your spine right now. With so much of her value tied into a single, long-cooldown move (a move that is mostly valued for its buffs, no less), Maid Chloe suffers from many extremely hard counters, in both PvP and PvE:

  • Buff dispel, especially AOE buff dispel. This is self-explanatory: Maid Chloe's value derives from buffs, so if her buffs are dispelled, so is her value.
  • Unbuffable. Basar in particular -- who outspeeds Maid Chloe, removes all buffs, and then inflicts Unbuffable -- is Maid Chloe's worst nightmare.
  • Stun, Silence, Provoke, and other forms of crowd control. If Maid Chloe is outsped and CC'd before she can use her S3, your life insurance policy just got cancelled.
  • Extinction. This is a rare one, but a huge one. Any hero defeated by an Extinction skill cannot be revived. As of January 2020, only two heroes -- Lilibet and Specimen Sez -- can cause Extinction. If Maid Chloe is facing either (or, heaven forbid, both at once), her revival can be completely invalidated by their Extinction attacks.
  • Other anti-buff mechanics. Some heroes and PvE bosses have other mechanics that punish buffs. For example, Kise does bonus damage to buffed targets, and Azimanak 11 activates a nasty AOE attack if any hero has three or more buffs active at once. Obviously, these are all bad matchups for Maid Chloe.

Can't Stun Bosses

Having an AOE Revive sounds very appealing for PvE fights, especially fights like Wyvern or Banshee that have access to potentially team-wiping AOE attacks. However, when Maid Chloe isn't using her S3, she's spamming her S1, and her S1 is mostly good because it can Stun targets. Since almost all bosses are immune to Stun, it's hard to justify bringing Maid Chloe to a lot of PvE fights, despite her awesome powers of resurrection. (She can still be very good for some levels of Abyss or the Automaton Tower, though.)

Mediocre Healing Ability

Maid Chloe’s heals are reliable, but they're not very strong. She is not a main healer, especially in PvE. This is especially relevant because allies only come back with 30% HP after being Revived. In most cases, a second Soul Weaver with better healing skills is necessary to help your team fully recover from their brush with death.
