Is Demon King Piccolo the same as Piccolo?

I might sound dumb and cheap for asking this but I’m trying to do the challenge for the Upgrade event for EXPiccolo to get 40 gems for “Clearing with 1Piccolo Character”. I do value my energy so much so before wasting it, does it work using Demong King Piccolo?

well you can see the weakness of demon king piccolo in this website and it said "Close, But Not Quite Piccolo"

When doing the scout missions, the character they refer to in those challenges directly corresponds with the character you get from the mission. In example, that is the Piccolo scout misssion, and thus you must use the same piccolo it gives you.

No, it’s not scout mission; is Upgrade mission the tab to the right. I’ve done with others like Trunks Kid with SSJ Trunks kid and it worked so it’s any “Trunks” character. But demon king piccolo doesn’t look like piccolo to me although he have “Piccolo” on his name.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, Demon King Piccolo is not technically a Piccolo variant. His name tag is "Demon King Piccolo"not "Piccolo". Because of this, he cannot wear piccolo exclusive equips like "Stay Alive, Gohan!" and "Don't Interfere!"or be used to complete missions/challenges that require a Piccolo variant.

The reason why he's not a true Piccolo is a callback to the original anime. Demon King Piccolo is actually DBZ Piccolo's Father. The specifics are fuzzy, but essentially, Demon King Piccolo laid an egg shortly before he died that hatched to become the Piccolo we know in DBZ. He is a son/reincarnation of the original evil Demon King.
