"I won’t let you get away with this, FRIEZAAA!!" The first Fighter of the ULTRA Rarity, UL SSJ Goku Red is here and looks to shake up the PvP meta with his powerful ULTRA Ability.

Even with the limited level that this fighter can be limit broken, he’s already shown promising feats. With this, we can assume that he’s going to be a terror in PvP once this fighter is able to be entirely unlocked. 

It goes without saying that his animations are second to none. Everything about this Goku feels extremely premium and even his card art is undoubtedly one of the best in the game. The future of ULTRA rarity is one that most players can’t wait to see unfold and this new Goku is a great starting point.

Strengths

Ultra Ability Goes Brrrr!!

UL SSJ Goku RED is the first Fighter with an ULTRA Ability. He gets stronger the more Saiyan battle members that you have in your party, even if they’re on your bench. With his ULTRA Ability, he gets 90% Damage inflicted and the best thing about these Damage inflicted buffs is that it’s uncancellable which is very powerful in this meta as there are a number of Fighters who can remove buffs with ease.

His ULTRA Ability coupled with his Golden Legends Unique Ability gives him 120% Damage upon entering the battlefield which is incredibly high. This Goku won’t have any problems doing Damage especially coupled alongside Z7 SP SSJ Bardock BLU.

Goodbye Powerful Opponent

UL SSJ Goku RED has a slight 20% Damage increase against Fighters with the Powerful Opponent Tag. This is very relevant currently as there are Powerful Opponent Fighters on most of the top meta teams in the game right now and UL SSJ Goku RED will certainly pack a punch against them.

Saiyan Awakened By Rage

UL SSJ Goku is a decent Last Man Standing(LMS) Fighter. He gets A 20% Ki Recovery increase when 1 battle member dies and a 30% Damage increase when 2 allies are dead. It’s not much but it is nice to have.

ULTRA Animations

This Strength is just for fun haha, however, as mentioned in the overview, UL SSJ Goku RED’s animations and card art are the best in Legends and because everything about him is new, he’ll undoubtedly be one of the most fun Fighters in Dragon Ball Legends.

Weaknesses

Rare Medals Are Scarce

This isn’t necessarily his own fault but it directly affects UL SSJ Goku RED. Rare medals are required to soul boost him but rare medals aren’t a farmable resource in the game so for players who don’t have enough. They’re going to have to wait a long time to acquire the required amount to fully soul boost him.

ULTRA Limitation

Due to the nature of his ULTRA Ability, UL SSJ Goku is sort-of stuck on a Saiyan team which limits his team potential. If he's being ran on Son Family, he'll lose out on a lot of Damage Inflicted.

No Ki

UL SSJ Goku doesn't have many avenues of increased Ki recovery until an ally dies and even then, it's only a minimal 20% increase which won't help much. This makes it difficult for him to utilize his Extra Arts - "I can't forgive your mistake.." as he won't have much Ki to chain a substantial amount of cards together.

His Ki issues are removed when he's used alongside SP Vegeta YEL but not everyone will have this Fighter or want to use him.

Team Synergy

Saiyans

UL SSJ Goku has competition when it comes to the Saiyan team due to Z7 SP Super Gogeta RED. It’s very hard to surpass a Zenkai Fighter such as Gogeta but UL SSJ Goku has the advantage of buffing the Saiyans team while Gogeta doesn’t. Using this Goku on Saiyans isn’t “optimal” in a sense but you can still get close to the same results if you do use him over Gogeta.

As mentioned before, with the likes of Z7 SP SSJ Bardock BLU or SP Vegeta YEL to give support, Goku won’t have any issue dealing Damage towards top meta Fighters. He also has Z7 SP LL SSJ3 Goku GRN as his shield against BLU Fighters.

Overall a very good option for the Saiyans team.

Son Family

It doesn’t take rocket science to realize that Z7 SP SSJ2 Youth Gohan RED is the best RED Fighter on the Son Family Team. Even so, a Red-Red-Green(RRG) setup with Gohan, UL SSJ Goku RED, and Z7 SP LL SSJ3 Goku seem like a decent team and Goku has the benefit of buffing Son Family as well so he can be used as a bench Fighter.

However, as mentioned in the Weaknesses, he’ll lose out on a lot of Damage Inflicted buffs but can be compensated some-what with Z7 SP SSJ2 Youth Gohan RED’s support.

Unique Ability

Golden Legend

Applies the following effects to self when this character enters the battlefield:
+30% to damage inflicted (cannot be stacked).
Reduces damage received by 30% (cannot be stacked).
Additional -5 to own Strike Arts cost for 10 timer counts if there is a "Tag: Saiyan" battle member other than this character in the party.

Saiyan Awakened by Rage

+20% to Strike damage inflicted against "Tag: Powerful Opponent" (cannot be cancelled).
Evades enemy's attack if a cover change is performed against their Blast Arts attack (activates during assists).
Applies the following effects to self when this character enters the battlefield according to the number of defeated battle members:
1 or more battle members: Restores Ki by 20.
2 battle members: +30% to damage inflicted (cannot be cancelled).

Resonance of Force (Saiyan)

+15% to damage inflicted per "Tag: Saiyan" battle member when battle starts (cannot be cancelled).
Additional +15% to damage inflicted per "Tag: Saiyan" support member (up to 45%) (cannot be cancelled).
