Builds

Queen of the Night

Kise is a generally useful DPS Hero and as such will do well with typical offensive sets. This particular build has been tested to be her top damage set outside of the Rage set, allowing her the most potential power in a more generalized setting where you may not have access to debuffs to empower the Rage set.

(Note that the set detailed below will only be optimal with late game gear. Before that, building her with an Attack set or Destruction set like any other DPS will likely be better.)

The non-Rage setup tested to perform the best for Kise is three Crit Chance sets with a Crit Damage necklace. This is because late game Crit Damage necklaces provide more Crit Damage than the Destruction set, and a late game Crit Chance necklace will often overcap you on Crit Chance.

While a Rage set will technically provide better damage overall, Kise is a hero who can be useful in many different settings, and sometimes those settings are not conducive to debuffs (i.e., any Arena fight against Champion Zerato). In order to best utilize her across any battle, whether you have debuffs or not, this more generic setup can be used.

Team

Core

Kise is a selfish DPS Hero and thus generally requires a team be built around her. She provides no team buffs, and her only debuff, while potent, only pushes back enemy cooldowns and does nothing to improve damage for the team. As such she should be matched with those who can provide Attack Up and put Defense Down on the enemy.

Before her buffs, Kise always wanted to run alongside a healer who could give her barriers, like Angelica. Now that Kise can give herself barriers on her own, this is not as important. However, it can still be useful, especially if your Kise doesn't have 100% crit chance yet and can't guarantee a barrier every time she uses her S3.

Scythe of Ice

Kise is a perfect DPS for Wyvern 11, since her S1 does bonus damage to buffed targets. This makes her very good at burning down Wyvern's enormous barrier, which is the most crucial part of the fight.

Gear

Since you are always going to want to have ailments inflicted on Wyvern, a Rage set is Kise's best friend in this fight. Unlike in most other content, Kise doesn't need to have 100% crit chance for Wyvern 11. Since Wyvern 11 has a unique A.I. that only attacks the first person in your team composition, Kise doesn't need her barrier to maintain her stealth. She still wants 100% crit chance to maximize her damage, but it means a player who is just starting to farm Wyvern 11 and doesn't have endgame stats yet can still use Kise very effectively here.

Kise's substats are the same as any heavy DPS unit for this build: Atk%, Crit Chance, Crit Damage, and Speed. Keep in mind that Kise doesn't apply debuffs. On the one hand, this means she doesn't really need Effectiveness. On the other hand, this means her allies need to be able to apply enough debuffs to make up for that.

Artifacts

Kise can use most Thief Artifacts pretty effectively. Rhianna and Luciella or Dust Devil are best, since more hits means more DPS against Wyvern. However, another good choice is Torn Sleeve, if you have it from the Guilty Gear crossover event. Kise's crazy Atk stat makes for very heavy Bleeds, and stacking Bleeds on Wyvern takes a lot of pressure off the rest of your team to keep the beast debuffed.

Team

Core

This team uses Tywin's S2 to buff Kise so she can take Wyvern apart more or less single-handedly. Mistychain should equip Sira-Ren so she can better handle debuffing duty, and Angelic Montmorancy is obviously great for heals. (Angelica or Aither are good options as well if you don't want to put the time into Angelic Montmo.)

If you don't have Tywin, you could bring Rose to tank (as she has an AOE Atk buff) and replace Mistychain with Furious (a free Connection hero who can cause Defense Break). This setup will leave you too light on debuffs without specific Artifacts, though. You would probably need Song of Stars on Furious (for Target) and Torn Sleeve on Kise (for Bleed) to make it work.

Analysis

Overview

Kise is an interesting teammate. In most content, she functions as a standard DPS hero, but she also has several niches that empower her in specific situations. Her buffs on 12/13/19, while small, have helped to make her more consistent in a wider variety of situations. She doesn't change the entire field of battle the way other Ice heroes like Seaside Bellona, Diene, or Tywin do, but when you're looking for raw damage, she doesn't disappoint.

Strengths

Punishes Buffs

Kise's S1 used to do bonus damage only to targets who were protected by a barrier, but now she deals 70% bonus damage to any enemy who has any kind of buff. Since buffs are such a key part of Epic Seven, especially in high-end content, Kise can take advantage of this bonus damage all the time.

Persistent Stealth

Kise's S3 is a massive nuke that also increases her target's skill cooldowns by 2 turns. However, it also has a defensive component: it puts Kise into stealth and also gives her a barrier if she made a critical hit on the attack. Stealth is a powerful defensive tool on its own, but when combined with a barrier, it makes Kise surprisingly difficult to attack and kill.

ST and AOE DPS

Many heroes can do either single-target damage (Alexa, Luna, Chloe) or AOE damage (Dizzy, Yuna), but not both. Furthermore, several heroes who CAN do both are unable to control when they do one or the other (Sez and Seaside Bellona, for example, both trigger their S2 passives automatically, whether you want them to or not). In a fight like Executioner Karkanis in the Azmakalis Raid, the player needs to carefully control when to use ST damage and when to use AOE. Kise can do this.

Strength of a Lion

Kise's horoscope is Leo, which means she has outrageously high base Attack. Combine this with her high damage multipliers on her abilities (especially the whopping x1.6 on her S3!) and she is capable of dishing out massive damage.

Weaknesses

Yet Another Leo

There are so many good Leo heroes in Epic Seven. Many of them are DPS heroes, and many of them are 3★ or 4★ and are thus likely to be pulled early. Needing the same upgrade materials for all of these Leo heroes can make farming feel slow and tedious.

Glass Cannon

While her Atk and Spd are both astonishingly high, Kise is a very fragile hero. (That evening gown may be gorgeous, but it doesn't protect her very well.) She relies on her Stealth, her barrier, and her allies to keep her alive. Sometimes this is fine, but when facing enemies who have powerful AOE (i.e., Arena cleave teams) or who can cause Unbuffable, she can be more of a liability than an advantage.
