  • This build puts New Year Plumeria’s supportive capabilities on the forefront, sacrificing the majority of her combat potential in exchange for maximizing the utility she brings to her allies. Taking a +RES is highly recommended to further strengthen her ability to leverage debuffing skills, though +ATK may be worthwhile to prepare her for the instance that engaging in combat is unavoidable; this can also be used to draw sources of Chill Atk away from her allies.
  • Her Special choice is mostly inconsequential here; Moonbow works great well for its short cooldown, but Luna and Iceberg may be considered if higher damage is preferred. For her A slot, New Year Plumeria utilizes Fort. Def/Res massive visible Resistance boost to great effect when equipped with Sabotages. Alternatively, Fury is readily available, enhances her Resistance as well, and allows for a more generalist approach rather than completely neutering Plumeria’s combat performance.
  • One can take full advantage of New Year Plumeria’s monstrous Resistance and use a Sabotage skill in her B slot to apply mapwide debuffs, with the choice of which depending on her specific team; Chill skills are potential substitutes, but are less likely to afflict multiple foes. Other strong candidates for those already satisfied with Sweet Dreams’ debuffs include Wings of Mercy, Aerobatics, and Flier Formation for increased flexibility in Plumeria’s positioning.
  • New Year Plumeria’s flier-exclusive skill access comes as an immense boon when it comes to her C slot, as she can exploit useful abilities such as Ground Orders and Guidance to greatly increase her team’s overall maneuverability. Most tend to be rather cost-intensive, though, so if unavailable -- or simply deemed unnecessary -- any choice of Drive or Tactic skill are also suitable choices. The same applies for her Sacred Seal.

  • New Year Plumeria’s combination of high Attack and Resistance alongside her flexibility in terms of weaponry make a set dedicated to fighting opposing magic foes a potential option; increasing either of these stats with an Asset is thus recommended to complement this role. Although alterations may be made to make her better suited for such a purpose, it’s worth noting that she can get by with her base kit alone here.
  • Her First-Dream should remain equipped if a greater supportive lean is preferred -- and it does come with a reasonable debuff to her foes’ Attack for reduced damage -- but for a more combat-oriented approach, there are better options. A +RES refine is ideal when utilizing anything other than her PRF.
    • This includes Short Bow (for greater OHKO potential when paired with Brave Lucina support) and Reindeer Bow (to safeguard her from enemy Specials without needing Guard), with both being somewhat accessible. A stronger -- but conversely much more cost-intensive -- choice is Spendthrift Bow, which simultaneously enhances her firepower and durability by a significant degree.
  • The dark fairy’s native Close Ward works excellently to extend her anti-magic focus to dragonstone users as well, negating their adaptive damage quality. allowing her to counterattack against them, and boosting her key stats when attacked by any magic foe. For a strict focus on countering ranged magic users, Mirror Stance 3 works excellently -- particularly for its built-in Guard effect given her low Speed.
  • Using Quick Riposte as New Year Plumeria’s B slot skill grants some wiggle room by providing her a conditional follow-up, though this can be used as a Sacred Seal as well to open this up for other options -- or potentially not at all if an OHKO-oriented build is the goal. If her B slot is open, Sabotage skills work well to aid both her and her allies’ performance with their debuffs, as do Wings of Mercy and other mobility-based options for a purely supportive approach or Mystic Boost if Close Ward isn’t being utilized.
  • Her C slot is flexible; Atk/Def Rein works excellently to boost her damage and tanking ability with ease, but can be replaced for supportive options that best support her team instead if so desired. For her Sacred Seal, if not using Quick Riposte, anything that augments her key stats -- preferably during the Enemy Phase -- can be used.

  • The sheer value of New Year Plumeria’s base Attack stat alongside her flexible mobility allows her to also pull off an all-out offensive build, aiming to maximize her raw firepower. Accordingly, taking advantage of her four-point +ATK IV is preferred over all else to frontload as much damage as possible.
  • Using her First-Dream Bow is once again an option to refrain from overly reducing her supportive value, and it actually does have benefit her slightly by making it easier to consistently activate Heavy Blade. That being said, since she still has great utility outside of First-Dream Bow (i.e. Sweet Dreams and her flying status), it may be worthwhile to replace her PRF with a Brave Bow
  • Death Blow is the natural choice to supplement New Year Plumeria’s Player Phase strength, granting her an ample Attack boost upon initiation; whichever version is available is suitable. Sturdy Impact is a high investment option that can also be considered should one wish to make initiating combat much safer; in addition to enhancing her Attack, it also offsets her poor Defense and negates her foe’s follow-up.
  • Since her flying status heavily restricts her B slot accessibility (especially those that lends themselves to offensive playstyles), New Year Plumeria’s options are reduced to basically mobility-based skills, Mystic Boost (which really only has use against dragons here), and Sabotage or Chill Def. Plumeria’s standard support C slot options can be considered if one doesn't want to use Atk/Def Rein.

Strengths

Sweet Dreams

New Year Plumeria retains her original iteration’s exclusive Sweet Dreams, a powerful (and directly improved) version of Sing and Dance that combines refreshing, buffing, and debuffing utility all into a single skill.

The varying effects of this skill -- while not particularly impressive individually -- altogether help Plumeria provide her allies a significant stat advantage against nearby foes on top of the crucial ability to take another action; this ultimately stands as the center of the dark fairy’s standout support capability. The wide radius for Sweet Dream’s debuff also makes it quite simple for Plumeria to quickly debilitate multiple foes and enable debuff-dependent units (e.g. Broadleaf Fan users), though most allies will appreciate this assistance overall.

First-Dream Bow

Her unique First-Dream Bow complements the dual buffing and debuffing utility of Sweet Dreams quite well, applying an in-combat boost to her allies’ Attack while detracting from that of any opponents within three spaces of her; this translates to a solid boost to her team’s raw firepower and durability, provided they’re in range.

Although this is not the crux of her overall capabilities and can easily be replaced if so desired, First-Dream Bow certainly comes as an appreciable addition to New Year Plumeria’s skill set and helps supplement her worth over other refreshers.

Flying Benefits

Being a flying refresher comes as an immense boon for New Year Plumeria, as it further adds on to her supportive value by being able to grant useful movement-based support through skills like Ground Orders and Guidance; this helps her team approach enemies from more favorable positions and enables strategies that would otherwise not be possible.

Excellent Attack & Resistance

New Year Plumeria’s statline is yet another callback to her original version and remains practically identical, varying only slightly across the board. To that end, her Attack and Resistance yet again feature strong base values -- in fact, they’re actually even higher than that of her base iteration. This renders the dark fairy well adept at tanking magical damage, leveraging further debuffing skills (such as Sabotages), and dealing decent chunks of damage, offering some wiggle room in terms of her build.

Weaknesses

Horrible Defense & Speed

Similarly to how she kept her base version’s high Attack and Resistance, New Year Plumeria also showcases abysmal values in both Defense and Speed; this combination removes any possibility of her being able to handle physical threats without prior precautions. The impact of her low Speed impacts her magical tanking ability as well, given that Plumeria’s susceptibility to follow-up attacks places her at risk of allowing quick Special access for her foe.

Flying Drawbacks

New Year Plumeria’s flying status comes as a great boon to her performance from a supportive standpoint -- but from a combat standpoint, it’s a much different story. With overall poor skill accessibility (most notably in terms of potential B slots) and a weakness to archers, her combat ability suffers compared to her non-flying counterparts.

That being said, the fact that Plumeria’s support potential is so good renders this inconsequential for the most part, barring those wanting a refresher with a more offensive lean.
