Introduction

So you've downloaded Harry Potter Wizards Unite, and want to power level and become the greatest wizard of all time.  Well, you've come to the right place!

Experience (EXP, or XP in-game) is a ranking or levelling system players. The game has several kinds of XP, but this article will deal with the one most players mean when they say XP: Wizarding XP, or Player XP. This XP is how players level up overall.

The other main kinds are Challenge XP (relevant for Fortresses) and Family XP (relevant for the Registry).

Leveling Benefits

Early in the game, leveling is essential to the gameplay.  Many of the core gameplay elements depend on Wizard Level, including:

  • Potion Recipes: The ability to brew Potions is unlocked at level 4, with more recipes unlocked until level 15.

  • Profession: The Profession system is unlocked at level 6.

  • Foundables: Players receive a small decrease in Trace difficulty every five levels (level 5, 10, 15, etc.). Quickly advancing through the early levels can yield a significant boost to success with tough Traces.

XP Sources

Foundables

Foundables are the most common source of experience for many players. Bonuses are awarded for skillful spellcasting, as well as first-time achievements. You can also earn a bonus amount of XP from returning Foundables to a Prestiged Page. Here is the score breakdown.

  • + Base XP Amount (Varies based on Threat Level)
    • Low: 50 XP
    • Medium: 75 XP
    • High: 150 XP
    • Severe: 250 XP
    • Emergency: 500 XP
  • + 250 XP - First time collected bonus
  • + 10 XP - First Spell Cast Success bonus
  • + 200 XP - New Spell bonus
  • + 20 XP / +50 EXP / +100 EXP (Good, Great, and Masterful Cast)

Note: a few Foundables currently seem to be bugged and do not award the correct base XP for their Threat Level. However, the majority follow the above pattern.

Achievements

Achievements provide an additional, limited source of experience, ranging from 250 XP to 5,000 XP. In total, all current achievements offer 27,950 XP.

SOS Assignments

SOS Assignments will contain XP rewards as well. Each set of SOS Assignments awards 50, 100, and 300 XP for each task in it.

Special Assignments

During events, such as Brilliant Events, players often receive a special set of time-limited Assignments to complete related to the event. These often offer Wizarding XP as part of the rewards for completing tasks, typically a couple thousand XP total.

Daily Assignments

Each day, players can complete a variety of simple tasks, players can earn ingredients, XP, gold, spell energy, and scrolls. Currently, players can receive 250 XP daily by walking 0.25 kilometers.

Daily Treasure

Daily Treasure, which only requires that players log in that day, typically grants XP every third day, ranging from 150 XP to 500 XP.

Fortress Challenges

Wizarding Challenges award Wizarding XP. The base rewards start at 64 Wizarding XP per Challenge (defeating all Foes in a Chamber). Several variables increase the rewards, including Chamber level, Runestone level, and the number of other players or friends in the lobby.

Portkeys

Portkeys from Portmanteaus will lead players to an AR environment where various rewards, including Wizarding XP, can be collected. However, XP is not guaranteed from Portkeys.

Tips: To maximise bonuses, players can stock up several unlocked Portkeys to open after using a Baruffio's Brain Elixir. Use the remaining time to complete Traces (placing Dark Detectors can help maximise spawns) and complete Wizarding Challenges in Fortresses.

Note: Baruffio's Brain Elixir does NOT double XP from Achievements or Assignments.
