Gear
Bellona’s damage potential in PvE scales heavily off of the enemy's max HP and her own Crit Damage. As a result, this Bellona build focuses on Crit Chance and Crit Damage in order to deal the most damage possible with her percentage-sheering S1. Follow up with Speed so she can keep up with the bosses, a little Effectiveness so her Defense Break can beat bosses' Effect Resistance, and maybe a little HP% for survivability or Atk% for extra DPS.
Early players building a DPS Bellona should equip her with a Speed set and a Critical set. As you acquire better gear with better substats (especially Speed substats), her true potential can be unlocked with a Destruction set and a Critical set. If you can get 85-100% Crit Chance on her without the help of a Critical set, you can even use a Unity set to give her better Dual Attack chances.
When using Bellona as a DPS, it's best to use an Ego Fragment on her to increase her Atk% (assuming you are lucky enough to have unlocked her Devotion Aura).
Artifacts
The best direct damage upgrade for a PvE DPS Bellona build is Daydream Joker. It stacks with her S1's percentage damage and also gets multiplied by critical hits and Crit Damage. However, sometimes you can get better results with other Artifacts, especially:
- Rosa Hargana is excellent for getting more Dual Attacks, which means more direct damage and also more Focus, which leads to more S3s, which leads to more Defense Breaks, which leads to more direct damage. It's a beautiful cycle.
- Bloodstone is also viable for teams that need more survivability. When leveraging her percentage damage against beefy PvE bosses, Bellona can be a surprisingly potent off-healer.
Other Artifacts like Sword of Judgment or Ambrote are also good DPS increases, but will rarely outperform the much-cheaper Daydream Joker in PvE boss fights.

Team

This team focuses on supporting and feeding off of Bellona's crit/ percentage-based damage output. Challenger Dominiel boosts Bellona's crit rate and does more damage the more Bellona crits. Meanwhile, Lilias and Tamarinne can both trigger guaranteed Dual Attacks, pulling in Bellona and Challenger Dominiel so they can keep feeding each other crits and buffs.
Breaking Butterfly
PvP
Bellona's damage potential in PvP is nowhere near as great as her DPS in PvE. Instead of building her for damage, build her to support other heroes' cleave offensive. When Speed-tuned correctly (and run with an AOE dispeller to remove pesky Immunity sets), Bellona’s 100% AOE Defense Break is a devastating blow to the enemy team.
Gear
In PvP, instead of focusing on damage, we focus Bellona on Speed and Effectiveness so she can land her S3's AOE Defense Break. Even with 100% affliction rate, you still have to bypass enemies' Effect Resistance, so Effectiveness is important. Speed, of course, is vital -- Bellona must be faster than your cleave heroes (i.e., Blood Blade Karin or Judge Kise) so she can Defense Break before they start their offense. Obviously, a Speed + Hit gearset combination is preferred for these reasons.
After Speed and Effectiveness, Bellona's other stats are somewhat up in the air. You can build Crit Chance and Crit Damage on her remaining substats, since her S3 can still do some pretty decent damage if it crits, or you can build some HP% so she might be able to survive a few turns and pull out more AOE damage to support her team. High-level players will likely want the crit strategy, but if your Bellona is having trouble surviving, build her more defensively instead.
It is absolutely required that a PvP Bellona be equipped with Exclusive Equipment to increase the Defense Break chance on her S3. Having a 100% accurate Defense Break is one of Bellona's key advantages, and she needs her Exclusive Equipment to make it possible.
Artifacts
Bellona can take advantage of most Ranger Artifacts to devastating effect, but here are some of the better choices:
- Iron Fan, Otherworldly Machinery, and Reingar's Special Drink are all good damage-boosting options. Iron Fan in particular makes Bellona a strong counter to meta Ice heroes like Angelica, Diene, and Dizzy.
- Song of Stars adds a Target effect to Bellona's S1. Stacking Target and Defense Break on tough tanks like Fallen Cecilia can be a good way to burn them down reliably.
- Rosa Hargana continues to be a great way for Bellona to trigger Dual Attacks and rapidly gain Focus.
- Sashe Ithanes allows Bellona to CR-push your team, which is always powerful.
Budget options include Cursed Compass and Oath Key, both of which help her more reliably land that crucial Defense Break. Oath Key in particular also helps with evasion-based heroes like Violet and Assassin Cartuja.

Team

This is a simple-to-use (if difficult-to-pull) PvP team. Righteous Thief Roozid acts first and CR-pushes his allies, giving Diene a chance to grant her AOE Attack buff. Bellona then hurls out her AOE Defense Break, leaving the path clear for Blood Blade Karin to sate her blade's appetite for enemy corpses.
NOTE: Watch out for Immunity, which will prevent Bellona from landing her Defense Break and greatly lower your DPS.

This is more of a slow-burn kind of team than the above composition. Righteous Thief Roozid and Bellona serve the same roles as before, but Hurado comes along to dispel enemy Immunity with his S3. Serving as the cornerstone for this setup is Silver Blade Aramintha, who swoops in after Hurado has dispelled enemy buffs to land AOE Stuns and Burns. While the enemy team struggles to recover, Bellona and Silver Blade Aramintha can whittle the enemies down with their powerful AOE.

Analysis
Overview
Exuding elegance from every pore, Bellona is an Earth Ranger whose kit is packed with offensive utility and situational (but very powerful) offensive potential. In addition to boasting a rare 100%-accuracy AOE Defense Down debuff on her S3, Bellona also has the ability to deal max HP% damage with her S1. This makes her a great choice for high HP bosses in PvE content such as Raids and the Abyss, but it also allows her to become a great leading option for cleave compositions in PvP.
Strengths
Tied for Best Defense Breaker
Bellona is one of the best Defense Breakers in Epic Seven for many reasons:
- Her Defense Break is AOE, as it is on her AOE S3.
- With Skill Enhancement and her Exclusive Equipment, she can reach 100% affliction rate on the debuff, making her one of only two heroes who has 100% Defense Break on an AOE skill (the other being Tywin).
- Finally, Bellona can chain her S1 into a free S3 when she has a full bar of Focus. This allows her to use it more often than her S3's long cooldown suggests.
When utilized with a synergistic Dual Attack build/ team comp, Bellona boasts one of the longest and most consistent Defense Breaks currently available in Epic Seven.
HP% Damage on S1
The percentage-based damage on Bellona's S1 allows her to shine when facing enemies that have a large HP pool, such as Raid or Abyss bosses. This damage even scales with critical hits, making Destruction sets and Crit Damage stacking extremely powerful on Bellona. (Her damage potential against bosses also makes her one of the best users of the Bloodstone Ranger Artifact.)
Powerful AOE Attacker
All of Bellona’s skills have an element of AoE damage to them (including her S1, since it can trigger her S3). Her S2 in particular scales its damage the more enemies it hits. When combined with her AOE defense down debuff, Bellona is very effective at damaging multiple enemies in content such as the Automaton Tower or the Banshee Hunt.
Very Flexible
Bellona is a hero who can perform admirably in PvE and PvP, as a main DPS or as a support, against lots of enemies or one big boss. Her S3 alone makes her useful in virtually any battle, let alone the added utility from the rest of her kit.
Weaknesses
Low Attack Multipliers
Though Bellona can deal a lot of damage when certain conditions are met, the innate damage modifiers on her skills are mediocre (x1 on S1, x0.8 on S2, and x0.9 on S3). Unless Bellona is built to use her kit to its fullest potential, her overall DPS can lag compared to other AOE heroes like Vildred or Sez.
Depends on HP% Damage
A large part of Bellona’s damage comes from her S1’s percentage damage. However, some late-game PvE content features enemies who are immune to HP% damage, which significantly decreases Bellona’s damage potential. Furthermore, this drastically limits her damage potential in PvP, where enemy heroes have much smaller Health pools than PvE bosses.
Depends on Dual Attacks
Bellona depends on Dual Attacks to build stacks of Focus quickly and maximize the damage of her S1. However, Dual Attacks are usually prone to RNG. Running Bellona alongside dedicated Dual Attack heroes like Kitty Clarissa or Lilias can help, as can the Dual Attack-focused Ranger Artifacts, but Dual Attacks are finicky to work with. In some content, they can even be a disadvantage, as you might trigger a counterattack or give a boss an extra turn when you didn't mean to.
High Investment
Bellona is a lady of class, distinction, and -- unfortunately for us players -- expensive tastes. You can't just throw her into your party's old hand-me-downs and expect her to be happy with it. She requires high-end gear, substantial Skill Enhancement, and the right Exclusive Equipment in order to dazzle the opposition.
