Legends Rivals: Son Family Vs. Vegeta Family

Son Goku, the Savior from the Stars, has invited rivalries simply by existing. Coming from humble beginnings to the World’s Strongest has caught the eye -- and fists -- of every major villain since the first time a prepubescent Goku uttered the word “Kamehameha”. 

Vegeta, the Prince of All Saiyans, was born into royalty. This powerful Saiyan spends his entire career claiming and defending those birthrights. A low class warrior like Goku -- or as Vegeta prefers to use his Saiyan name, Kakarot -- should not even be able to approach the Warrior Prince.

The Son Family Team has famously gone toe-to-toe with Meta dominating Teams like Regeneration and Female Warrior, even staying relevant through the highly promoted Fusion Warrior Vs God Ki rivalry. Vegeta Family is one of the oldest Tags, but has remained irrelevant until recently with the addition of Fighters who Support this Tag, but then exploded onto the scene with ruthless Strike attacks and punishing Combos. Relentlessly honed Strike attacks up against the Blast-heavy familial bonds of Son Family , who will prevail?

Vegeta Family focuses on early Strike Damage output and quick Transformations. SP Vegeta BLU is the poster-Saiyan for this and is this Tag’s most vicious weapon against Son Family. SP Vegeta BLU can safely switch in against most of Son Family Team except for the recent resurgence in Son Family Green Fighters, namely SP Goku GRN and SP Super Saiyan 3 Goku GRN, but this threat is easily handled by Vegeta Family Purple Fighters like SP Teen Trunks PUR and SP SSB Vegeta PUR. SP Teen Trunks PUR offers the only Vegeta Family Synergy outside of Z-Abilities, but he plays an integral role in keeping the Damage output rolling throughout the match.

Son Family has an equal and opposite approach. Instead of pounding Strike attacks, Son Family opts for Health melting Blast attacks. Instead of early Transformations, Son Family focuses on late game finishers like SP SSJ2 Youth Gohan RED and SP SSJ Kid Goten PUR. Son Family also has a wider selection of viable Fighters for their Core, which eases the prediction game, and most importantly, Son Family synergizes together better than Vegeta Family does.

Although it should be noted that a Strike variant of Son Family is possible and viable with SP Super Saiyan 3 Goku GRN, SP Super Saiyan Youth Gohan YEL, and  SP Super Saiyan Teen Gohan BLU, but at this time, the Blast variant has access to better overall Synergy. 

While Vegeta Family has made an impressive entrance into the Meta, Son Family is simply more established with better Team options. Vegeta Family Fighters tend to work alone to deal devastating Strike Attacks, but do not have the teamwork and Synergy that Son Family does, which is where they edge out. 

Vegeta Family should not be counted out, though. The Royal Family has very strong options against Son Family and can keep the win ratio close to even, which is impressive for an effectively new Tag.

Son Family might edge out, but Vegeta Family is still receiving Support in new Vegeta and Trunks variants who regularly combat the Meta on their own. If Vegeta Family ever learns to work together instead of each Fighter trying to fight alone, then they could turn this rivalry the other way and claim their birthright.
