Note: none of the builds below is the definitive best out of the suggested ones, the fighters highlighted below are just all strong enough to put up a serious argument to be on the team, so they're all listed. Also, "Bench" Fighters aren't necessarily worse than the "Core" Fighters, as the choice of which ones to use is dependant on the matchup.

  • He's a really durable Fighter in general. In fact, he can benefit from very high defensive stats, constant Heals, and pretty decent Damage Reduction, so he makes a fantastic Defensive trio alongside SP SSJ3 Goku GRN and SP Vegeta YEL.
  • His Damage is pretty consistent and reliable ( although his Strike Damage is clearly better than his Blast Damage ), but the most useful thing about him right now is probably the Anti-Cover Effect he gets early in the Game, which lets him ignore Special Covers ( and there are a lot in the meta right now ). This is important mainly for Rising Rush farming purposes, as getting Combo-stopped means falling behind in that regard.

  • Team Healing, Damage Buffs, Ki restoration, Sub Counts reduction... Vegeta is just a really resourceful Supportive Fighter who will make any of his allies' lives much easier.
  • At low stars he's not good on his own, but from 7* his Offense becomes nice, and most importantly his Cover Effects really start making an impact.

  • His Damage output is unimpressive in early Game, so he has to rely on the other Fighters on the Team to do the dirty work for him until he Transforms.
  • Becoming a Super Saiyan immediately increases his Offensive celing through the activation of some Damage Buffs. Other than that, His Special Move can be very impactful if used skillfully, and his Extra Move allows him to stay on the field for longer, which is key for his other Buffs to activate. As a Last Man Standing he's as dominant as it gets, since he reaches his Offensive Peak and receives crucial Heal, so he's very dangerous even in 1 vs 2 situations.

  • He starts off slow Offensively in terms of Buffs, but considering he can stretch Combos through Strike Draw, put pressure on opponents through his AoE Extra Move, and deal great Damage through his Special Move which can basically always be used at a reduced cost, it's fair to consider him a decent Offensive Fighter even at the start of the Match. By mid Game, his Buffs usually reach their ceiling, by that point his Strike Cards hit pretty hard and his Ultimate Move is a very dangerous card, although that's the case for almost every recent LF.
  • While he's not a Tank by any means due to his bad durability, Endurance allows him to be thrown in against moves that don't ignore the mechanic, for example Rising Rushes. In the context of Saiyan, this is quite helpful, as the Team already had plenty of ways to deal with such threats, and adding one more just makes the Team's defense all the more frightening.

  • After his Zenkai Awakening he became a fantastic Damage dealer again. His Buffs remained mostly the same, but that isn't a bad thing since they looked already pretty great. On the other hand, his stats got a huge increase, so he can harass opponents with hard-hitting Blast Cards, Arts Draw Speed, and his really powerful Ultimate Move, just like in his prime.

  • He can take hits better than he could at his release, thanks to the new Damage Reduction Ability and the decent Defensive stats he got after the Zenkai.

  • He's a well-rounded Offensive Fighter that has immense ceiling. His long Combos are always a recipe for disaster for his opponents, since his Buffs become higher as he uses either Strike or Blast Cards. 
  • His Extra Move may not be easy to use at all times, but when it works it puts the opponent in a really bad spot.

  • He's a very impressive Fighter all around. While he lacks Arts Draw Speed right off the bat, the additional Damage Buffs he got after his Zenkais make him much more consistent than ever before Offensively. In fact, thanks to his higher base Damage output, he can now force the opponent to switch more often, which enables his other Buffs. His only real flaw other than timegated Arts Draw Speed is his lack of meaningful Buffs when he's the Last Man Standing.
  • His Ultimate Move is a nuke that builds up throughout a Match Damage wise and ignores Type Disadvantage, so it's one of the most foolproof Moves in the game and it also happens to be one of the hardest hitting Ultimate Moves.
  • His Defensive utility deserves a special mention: not only can he disrupt an opponent's combo at any time in the Match thanks to his Special Cover, but also his Defenses and huge Healing Capabilities ensure he can take a beating without breaking a sweat.

Discussion

Saiyan is a Team that thrives both Offensively and Defensively, mostly thanks to the magic called Zenkai.

The Build is just filled with some of the strongest Zenkai in the Meta, that become even more hellish to face when they're Supported by SP Vegeta YEL, who provides constant Healing to some of the toughest Defensive Fighters in the game on tis Team.

Not only that, but Vegeta also provides Offensive Support in terms of Ki and Damage Buff, and most importantly he continuously lowers his Teammates' sub counts, which makes his allies' Defensive Mechanics much more problematic to deal with for the opponents.

Such mechanics can be found in SSJ3 Goku and Ape Vegeta's kits, as Special Cover and Endurance are basically free "out of jail" buttons which contribute to make this Team excellent durability wise.

Offensively, the Team's identity doesn't really have a clear identity card-wise, as some Fighters prefer Blasts and other prefer Strike Cards, but generally the tactic is to stall into mid-late Game to finish off the opponent with one-hit-kill cards such as SSJ3 Goku's Ultimate Move, or in general through Unique Abilities that get stronger as Timer Counts elapse ( basically all Fighters on this Team excluding SP Vegeta YEL has time-gated Offensive Effects ).

Excluding its supreme ceiling in terms of general strength, Saiyan's main trait is definitely its versatility color-wise, which makes it easy for the Team to counter any type of opponent.

Saiyan is arguably the best Team in the Game, and it'll likely remain relevant for a long time since the influx of new Saiyan Fighters and Zenkais should remain constant.

While he's not better than either Gogeta or SSJ4 Vegeta, he's a pretty consistent Fighter Damage wise, who can put up huge numbers with his Ultimate Move. He's a really solid F2P option.

He's an underrated Fighter that can easily fit in his Team at higher stars, thanks to how much SP Angel Vegeta YEL is capable to heal his allies. In fact, with him and SP SSJ3 Goku GRN, the Build becomes basically unbearable Defensively, at the expense of Offense since this Fighter can't quite match most other Core options in that regard. His Endurance is probably his biggest asset, since it means that the Team has two incredible responses to Rising Rush considering SSJ3 Goku's cover rescue as well.

His Strike Damage is top tier, but that's about it, as he doesn't particularly excel Defensively, and doesn't provide anything in terms of utility. Still, raw Damage is something that shouldn't be underestimated, especially when it's very high like in SSJ3 Goku's case. Also, his capability to draw a Strike Card on switch makes him a very consistent Melee Fighter. He's amazing against Regeneration Fighter thanks to his Anti-Tag Unique Ability.
