Overview

Demeter is a pretty infamous bossfight for many reasons, and foremost of them all is the fact that Masters are forced to bring along Caenis as support, which also locks Masters from using a friend’s Servant to round up their composition. Adding salt to the wound, she also has to be placed on the front row, resulting in her being a general deadweight or wasting a use of the Chaldea Combat Uniform’s Order Change skill.

There are three parts to this fight, corresponding to the amount of health bars Demeter possesses. Demeter has AoE attacks, and maintains the same repertoire of active skills across all phases. (Refer to the Enemy Details section for a list of her skills and NP).

Phase One:

  • Demeter starts off with 230,360 HP, a 3-turn DEF Down and a 5-turn Heal Down.
  • On Break, Demeter will remove all the party’s buffs, as well as apply a 3-turn Buff Block (the Buff Block is removable).

Phase Two:

  • After Break, Demeter will use one of her three active skills as her first action.
  • Otherwise, this phase mostly plays out like the first one, though the loss of momentum due to Demeter’s Remove Buff and Buff Block may cause a couple of casualties on Chaldea’s side.
  • On second Break, Demeter will apply the following [Permanent, Unremovable] buffs to herself:
  1. 50% Chance to Seal own Skill for 1 turn every turn)
  2. Recover own HP by 10,000 every turn.
  3. When HP reaches 0, revive with 150,000 HP (1 time).

Phase Three:

  • Just like before, Demeter will use one of her three active skills as her first action.
  • The last stretch of the fight is a battle of attrition (in particular if Demeter happens to activate her DEF Up Skill), and can be challenging for parties which has spent most of its firepower to break through the first two health bars.

Strategy:

The main theme for this stage is to conserve the party’s firepower to win the Third Phase’s battle of attrition. There are three main ways to achieve this:

  • Utilize Buff Removal Resist effects to minimize the impact of Demeter’s first Break effect on the party’s momentum.
  • Deplete Demeter’s first health bar with a minimum investment of buffs, saving said buffs to force through the second and third health phases.
  • The use of multiple damage dealers, with less reliance on buff-stacking strategies

Team Recommendations

  • The use of multiple single-target Rider damage dealers (Sakata Kintoki (Rider), Sakamoto Ryouma, Ushiwakamaru, Mandricardo) are recommended, as aside from the increased damage output, their defensive class advantage allows them to last longer in the fight, giving the party more time to deal damage to Demeter.
  • Masters with a limited amount of Riders may benefit greatly from bringing along Nightingale (Santa), whose ability to increase an ally’s Buff Removal Resist helps to conserve the party’s buffs placed on the main damage dealer, allowing the front row to breeze through the first two health bars, while the back row serves as a clean-up squad for the final phase.
  • The use of Damage Supports are important to help break through the final two phases. Those with multiple party-wide buffs (such as Zhuge Liang) can also help to deplete the Buff Block applied by Demeter on her first Break.
  • Alternatively, Servants with Debuff Clear (e.g. Asclepius) can also remove the Buff Block without too much hassle.
