Miracle

Overview

Miracle is a unique Special: Unlike other defensive Specials which reduce damage by a certain amount, Miracle instead provides no damage reduction but will protect the user from death and leave them at one HP. Miracle also has a strange activation condition: It will only work if the unit in question would suffer a lethal attack. This activation requirement is a boon for the skill, as it means it would never activate uselessly. With a long charge time of five, Miracle is most commonly seen on specialist builds. Miracle is also notable for being the only defensive Special to effectively protect one from both melee and ranged damage.

Synergy

Despite being a defensive Special, Miracle is most commonly seen on frail units not built for taking damage. This is because the effects of the skill don't factor in defense or resistance, and units with low defenses are more likely to fall in combat. Shield Pulse is commonly seen with Miracle, providing the bonus Special charge but not the damage reduction. Miracle is great when used on low defense or resistance units. Paired up with skills such as Life and Death, a unit can maximize their offense without worrying about their frail defenses.

Weaknesses

Due to it's long charge time, Miracle is rarely seen on optimal unit builds. Most units would rather use another defensive Special (such as Aegis or Pavise) as with their 50% reduction, they usually block enough damage to save their life. Offensive units also tend to prefer damage-dealing specials to increase the units they can KO, relying on skills such as Sing/Dance and Reposition to avoid damage from foes entirely. Miracle's last limitation is that it requires the unit's HP to be greater than one. If Miracle has already triggered, the unit will need to be healed before it can successfully trigger again.
