The first of the free SPARKING Gokus that we’ll be getting over the next few days, SP Goku (Saiyan Saga) RED has arrived in Dragon Ball Legends and has shown some great promise so far. He has great Damage along with a very good Main Ability that can change the tides of a battle. Defensively, he has a hefty 30% Damage reduction upon entering the battlefield but his defense stats left much to be desired.
Final Ray Of Hope
As stated above, SP Goku(Saiyan Sage) RED’s Main Ability is very good and is probably one of the better Main Abilities among the free Gokus’. He restores his own health by 20% which increases his survivability, debuffs all enemies with a huge 30% Strike Damage received, and gains 40% Damage inflicted for 30 timer counts. The debuff is very useful on Strike-oriented teams as they’ll be able to put the debuff to good use. His Damage will also see a significant increase when his Main Ability is used which could catch the opponent off-guard.
Engage and Assault
Goku receives a 60% Damage increase for 20 timer counts when he enters the battlefield, which is lower than the standard nowadays which is 70%, even so, he can still put up good Damage. As mentioned in the Overview, he gets a 30% Damage reduction as well which can help him stay on the battlefield for longer durations but he is not a tank.
He also receives card draw speed up for 80 timer counts and a ki recovery increase. Both of these help to lengthen his combo which can be useful to stall out time.
As with all of the free Gokus, SP Goku(Saiyan Saga) RED has a terrible Z-Ability as he buffs Fighters from the Saiyan Saga
SP Goku(Saiyan Saga) RED has below-average stats for a SPARKING Fighter. His highest-ranked stat is his strike attack that's ranked at 63th and all of his other stats are ranked in the 100s.
Sadly, SP Goku(Saiyan Saga) RED has no place on the Saiyan team. There are better RED options in the game and a better F2P Option as well.
