Overview

SSB Goku RED is a very technical Fighter. He doesn’t do much in terms of Damage output but his defensive value and utility are what make him good in the PvP meta. 

His best trait is the fact that he gets neutral typing for 40 timer counts which is incredibly valuable in the current meta where UL Super Gogeta BLU has such a high play rate.

Overall Goku is a good Fighter to use on the God Ki team if you do happen to need a RED Fighter.

Strengths

Type Neutral

As mentioned in the Overview, SP SSB Goku RED getting type neutral for 40 timer counts once the battle starts is fantastic. With this, he’s able to survive combos from very good BLU Fighters while being able to dish a little bit of Damage back at them.

Cover Of A God

SP SSB Goku RED has an interesting cover change unique ability. He reduces the opponent’s vanish to 0 when he cover changes (up to 4 times). This is very useful in certain situations where they don’t have enough time to switch out as you can immediately follow up with a counter-attack and they won’t have any way to dodge it.

He also gets 60% reduced Damage received on Cover which makes him incredibly tanky even against top meta Fighters.

He also shortens his own sub count and increases the sub count of the opposition which will allow you to further control a color advantage if used correctly.

After Cover Changing, SP SSB Goku RED will get a small Damage increase of 20% to help him boost his Damage a bit more.

Damage Woes

While SP SSB Goku RED is not meant to deal Damage as he’s a defense type, his offense still leaves much to be desired as he doesn’t get a lot of Damage inflicted and his offensive stats are poor.

Team Synergy

God Ki

SP SSB Goku RED’s only team is God-Ki as Event Exclusive is not a viable PvP team in its current state. Goku is a solid RED option for the team if you don’t have LL SP Corrupted Merge Zamasu RED at high stars. Goku will provide tanking and a bit of utility while the other Fighters can wreak havoc with their insane Damage output.

Unique Ability

Fated Showdown

Applies the following effects to self when battle starts:
+80% to damage inflicted (cannot be cancelled).
Reduces damage received by 40% (cannot be cancelled).
Nullifies unfavorable Element factors for 40 timer counts (cannot be cancelled).
Nullifies Abnormal Conditions for 40 timer counts (cannot be cancelled).
Destroys all of your enemy's Special Move Arts Cards when this character enters the battlefield (activates three times).
Restores ally Ki by 20 when this character switches to standby.

Power to Surpass a God

The following effects occur when changing cover:

Reduces enemy Vanishing Gauge to 0% (activates four times).
Inflicts enemy with Attribute Downgrade "+3 to Substitution Count" for 15 timer counts.
Reduces damage received by 20% until combo ends.
Applies Attribute Upgrade "Shortens substitution count by 3" to self (cannot be stacked).
Effect resets after character switch.

The following effects occur after enemy attack is over:

Reduces enemy Ki by 20.
+20% to damage inflicted (up to 40%).
+40% to the next Special Move damage inflicted (cannot be stacked).

Battle Member: RP +30% (designated season only)

+30% to RP earned after a win in "Super Space-Time Duel #74".
